Our Mission: To build a parish community that shares
God’s love through prayer, service and evangelization
so that all feel welcome in making St. Jude their home.
In the Catholic tradition, work is more than a way to make a
living; it is a form of continuing participation in God’s creation.
This Labor Day, reflect on the dignity of work and rights of
workers by visiting www.usccb.org/jphd to read the annual
Labor Day statement from the United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops.
Prayer for the Dignity of Work
and the Rights of Workers
Lord God, Master of the Vineyard,
How wonderful that You have invited us
who labor by the sweat of our brow
to be workers in the vineyard
and assist Your work
to shape the world around us.
As we seek to respond to this call,
make us attentive to those who seek work
but cannot find it.
Help us listen to the struggles of those
who work hard to provide for their families
but still have trouble making ends meet.
Open our eyes to the struggles of those exploited
and help us speak for just wages and safe conditions,
the freedom to organize, and time for renewal.
For work was made for humankind
and not humankind for work.
Let it not be a vehicle for exploitation
but a radiant expression of our human dignity.
Give all who labor listening hearts
that we may pause from our work
to receive Your gift of rest.
Fill us with Your Holy Spirit
that You might work through us
to let Your justice reign.
Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE DAY
ABOUT THE COVER
The photograph was taken outside our Education Building where workers are busy with the on-going construction project. Inside, we have pre-school teachers welcoming students and parents for their Open House. Within the campus, we have Church staff and volunteers who are
likewise working on Church needs. Whether we are being paid or not for what we do, we are blessed to have the
ability to work and to know that we contribute to something bigger. We hope that this Labor Day, we take the time to rest, reflect and thank God for this blessing.

WANT TO BECOME A CATHOLIC? Are you already a Catholic but missing sacraments? Does someone you know have questions about Catholicism or want to receive the Sacraments?
RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
Begins September 17, 2019, 6:45 PM
St. Jude Parish Hall
ADULT & YOUNG ADULT MINISTRIES
The 2019-2020 Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) at St. Jude Catholic Church is held on Tuesday evenings
from 6:45pm to 8:30pm. RCIA consists of a series of classes and gatherings to prepare adults for the Sacraments of
Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist, and into full communion with the Catholic Church. It is the principle
means used to introduce the Catholic Faith to those who are interested in becoming Catholics. The RCIA program is
a discernment process and does not require a commitment to become Catholic – it is fully up to the participants if,
through attending the program, they feel a calling to become united with the Church through its Sacraments of
Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist).
The evening sessions generally consist of two 20-minute presentations on aspects of our faith, separated with lively
small group table discussions that elaborate on the topics of the evening. It is not necessary that attendees commit
to Catholicism at any time throughout the sessions, but for those who do choose to become full participants in the
Church and its Sacraments, the program culminates with the reception of the
Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist at Easter Vigil.
Attendees should be 18 years or older, and may come from any, or no, religious
background. There are many circumstances that bring Inquirers to the program with
many background experiences. If you feel the Spirit moving you toward knowing
more about the Catholic Church, please call Della Doss, Adult Formation Coordinator,
at 972.727.1177, ext. 2230. An open heart is your only requirement! For more
detailed information, please see our website: https://stjudeparish.com/becoming-
catholic.
