Year 5/6 Girls indoor 5-aside Football

The Y5/6 girls continued their excellent

start to the season after registering 3 more wins against local teams at a Trinity tour-

nament.

It was all guns blazing in our opening

games, with Kirsten chasing down every loose ball and seriously pressuring the op-

ponents. She scored twice against Hunger-ford, while Olivia and Lily B ensured a clean

sheet with some more excellent defending.

Bella kept 3 clean sheets at the tournament

and continues to grow as a goalkeeper with every game, impressing spectators from

other schools and referees alike. Ellie’s bril-liant goal against St Finnians was cancelled

out as their star player turned up the gas

to score twice. Ellie scored again to take a 1-0 victory against Bright Walton, which

could, should and would have been 2-0 had Imogen’s powerful strike not hit the post.

Olivia was sidelined with a pesky back inju-

ry so Lily A stepped in and held her own in

a tournament dominated by big, Year 6 girls. Mia also played in all 3 outfield posi-

tions, and her willingness to adapt and add to her game was rewarded with the win-

ning goal to overthrow otherwise undefeat-

ed Calcot, who were on track to top the table.

A tricksy technicality meant that the

top 3 teams from the afternoon pro-

gressed to the Finals - and the referee (albeit later than we would have liked)

has confirmed with us that our out-standing 9 points was indeed enough.

Well done girls!
