St. Joseph will host a women’s “Fall Retreat” on Saturday,
November 2, in the Parish Center, Our guest speaker this year
will be Sr. Marla Lang. Our topic will be “Loving the Sinner,
Acknowledging and Forgiving the Sin.” Please mark your
calendars to attend! Watch for details in the coming

Secretary/Bookkeeper Position
St. Joseph Parish is accepting applications for a full-time
secretary/bookkeeper. The position will be 35-40 hours per
week. Benefits are offered. We are looking for a practicing
Catholic, who can maintain parish confidentiality and is tactful,
well organized and courteous in dealings with the public and
fellow employees. Computer skills, including familiarity with
Quickbooks and Microsoft Publisher is preferred. Position will
begin this December or January 1, 2020. If interested, please
submit a resume to the parish office or Fr. David.

Mission Appeal
Next weekend, October 19-20, Fr. Raphael Makori, who repre-
sents the Diocese of Musoma in Tanzania, will be celebrating
the Masses and will tell us more about his ministry and work.
There will be a second collection taken to support Fr. Makori’s
ministry. Our special collection for World Missions will be held
the following weekend, October 26-27.
Movie Showing
If you missed the previous showing of "Unplanned" it will be
shown again in the Parish Center this Sunday, October 13 at
3:00 pm. It is a true story of love, hope, and forgiveness. What
Abby Johnson saw on a particular day in her life as an abortion
clinic director changed EVERYTHING. Seeing this movie will
change everything for you.
Superior Diocese Council of Catholic Women Retreat
The SDCCW is sponsoring a Fall Retreat on Saturday, October
26, 2019, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, in Cameron, WI. The
presenter, Danielle Hendricks, is an energetic young woman
and mother from Rice Lake. She is giving two presentations on
how we as Catholic women are called to live our faith in to-
day’s world and carry out God's Great Commission. Fr. Balaraju
Policetty is providing a time for Reconciliation and is also cele-
brating Mass. The day will be spiritually fulfilling, a day of joy
for celebrating the season of fall and a great way to connect
with other Catholic women in the Diocese of Superior. All
women are invited to attend! The cost for the retreat is
$20.00 and includes lunch. Registration forms are available
in the parish office.
Recycled Christmas
This fun event is to raise money for the youth programs of St.
Joseph and St. Ann. Saturday, November 23 is the date here
in the church hall. It is a sale of pre-owned Christmas and win-
ter items: trees, cards, ornaments, figurines, Christmas cloth-
ing/jewelry, yard art – anything Christmas. If you wish to do-
nate items for this rummage sale of only Christmas/winter
items, please save them for this event.
New Lector Books
The lector books for 2020 are here. If you are a lector, please
pick up your copy in the parish office.
March for Life 2020
March for Life registration is open. This year the march will be
held on January 24, 2020, in Washington, D.C. If there are any
students grades 9-12 interested in attending, please contact
Religious Ed.

Coming Events
October 13—St. Francis Solanus Mission in Reserve is
inviting our parish for their annual Harvest Dinner—turkey
and venison is on the menu. Serving begins at 11:00 am.
Adults and teens are $8.00, children under 10 are $4.00
and carry-outs are $9.00.
Today is the last chance to see the movie “Unplanned” that
will be shown at St. Joseph’s Parish Center at 3:00 pm. It is
a true story of love, hope and forgiveness.
October 13—Our parishioners are invited to attend a special
Prayer Vigil for Victims of Domestic Violence at 6:00 pm in
the Cable UCC Church.
The BRICK Ministries is sponsoring Dine Out To Help Out to
be held Tuesday, Oct. 15 at a number of local participating
restaurants, including the Loon Saloon, Pla-Mor, the
Brickhouse Café, Lakewoods and the Cedar Steakhouse &
Grille. These participating restaurants across Bayfield and
Ashland Counties are donating 10% of their dine-in or take-
out food sales on that day and donating it to the BRICK
Ministries. Watch the BRICK website on Facebook and
posters for new additions and alternative dates.
October 18 is your last chance to register for a Fall Retreat,
organized by the Superior Diocesan Council of Catholic
Women. It will take place on Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Peter’s
Catholic Church Fellowship Hall in Cameron, WI.

St. Joseph Book Club
The Book Club will be meeting on Friday, November 8, at
12:40 pm at the Parish Center. The book to be discussed
is The Unwinding of the Miracle: A memoir of life, death, and
everything that comes after—by Julie Yip-Williams. The book is
about a young woman and mother who is facing her own ill-
ness and death. Newcomers are welcome to attend. The book

Elizabeth Ministry Meeting
The Elizabeth Ministry will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 28,
