THANKSGIVING BASKETS: Once again, Knights of Columbus Council #5297 will be collecting food items for Thanksgiving Baskets. The Knights will be putting together baskets for local families in need. Parishioners are requested to bring various kinds of nonperishable food cans/boxes. Baskets will be distributed by Knights of Columbus members to needy families in the community. Please bring food donations to the church from the 15th through the 22nd and the Knights will collect the donations after the 11:15 a.m. Mass.
CHRISTMAS FLOWERS: If you wish to donate a poinsettia in memory of a loved one, please use the envelope in your packets. We request a $20.00 donation per flower. Be sure to include the name on the envelope of the individual whose memory you are honoring, and do not put loose checks in the regular collection basket without the special envelope. Donations must be received by Sunday, December 13th, in order for their names to appear in the bulletin December 20th.
VIRTUAL BENEFIT EVENT FOR CHRIST THE BRIDEGROOM MONASTERY: Due to the pandemic, the nuns have decided to transform their annual “Bridegroom’s Banquet” into a virtual event on Saturday, November 7. There is no cost to attend the event, but everyone is encouraged to register. Enjoy live-streamed Vespers (Evening Prayer) with the nuns followed by a prerecorded online program, including the premier of this year’s video, “Bethany, Supporting Spiritual Fatherhood.” In thanksgiving, all who register prior to the event will be remembered once a month during Divine Liturgy at the monastery for the coming year. Celebrate with the nuns during a week of fun, virtual events on the monastery Facebook page leading up to the banquet. Learn more about the nuns and their life of prayer and hospitality. NEWS FROM ST. MARY SCHOOL: We have completed our 1st quarter of school! While very little is the same this year, our dedicated teachers remain steadfast in their commitment to provide the best in Catholic education to our students. Our students seem happy to be back in class, even with all the necessary Covid-19 restrictions. Our third graders were able to make their first communions a couple weeks ago. They had to wait for this very special day, but that made the reception all the more joyous! We welcome them to the table of the Lord and are excited they will now be able to participate with us in receiving the Eucharist at our weekly school masses. As humans, and Americans, we are not very good at patience. We want it our way and we want it now. Covid-19 has forced everyone to slow down, appreciate our blessings and really think about how our actions may affect others. We have all been taught this lesson, now we are learning how these lessons from the Gospels are lived. We are grateful for the opportunity to share and live these Gospel values with your children everyday.
