The Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
June 17, 2018
Dear Parishioners and Friends:
Thank you for all your birthday good wishes, cards and
gifts this past week! I feel like I have been partying for a
couple of weeks! It is deep joy to be appreciated and to cele-
brate being alive. Today, we thank God for our Dads and the
way that they have given us life and support us so constantly.
In my own case, I am surprised that I still have my Dad, so
this weekend I will be with him, savoring the wine of our
lives.
Summertime brings not just changes in the weather, but
people move and travel, we bring back new life and new en-
ergy for others. A number of new folks have moved into the
parish, some returning and some deciding to set up their
homesteads with us. As our Parish Mission prayer says, we
have been called together by the Holy Spirit to become the
faith community of St. Joseph Parish Family. We welcome
newcomers with delight and plan on having a summer wel-
come luncheon for them on August 19 after the Bilingual
Mass.
We also recognize the new leadership of the Council of
Catholic Women [CCW]: President Joy Frew, Vice-president
Fran McElroy, Secretary Trisha Pape, and Treasurer Kathy
Odam. May the Holy Spirit guide you! The Knights are in
the middle of electing their new officers too, so they will let
us know real soon. New blood, new energy, new ideas. One
desire we have have had for a number of years is to start ESL
classes [English as a Second Language] and perhaps SSL
classes [Spanish as a Second Language].
Questions for the week: What summer activity is most
life-giving for you? What can you do in the summer time to
care for your neighbors that you can’t do during the school
year? In what ways are summer months truly healing and
restorative?
Your Pastor, Fr. Bob
Domingo Once en el Tiempo Ordinario
17 de Junio, 2018
Queridos Feligreses y Amigos:
dado vida y ayuda constantemente.
dado a nuestra parroquia, algunos regresando y algunos deci-
jeres Católicas (CCW): Presidenta Joy Frew, Vice-presidenta
Fran McElroy, Secretaria Trisha Pape, y Tesorera Kathy Odam.
sanadores y restauradores?

“Although the life of a person is a land full of thorns and weeds, there is always a space in which the good seed can grow. You have to trust in God.”
Word from Pope Francis
Palabras del Papa Francisco:
“See you in September …!!??” We know that everyone needs to enjoy some time away and vacations can be holy times of
refreshment and renewal for our families. But PLEASE, re-
member your parish family in your faithful tithes through
the summer months because we still have to pay for the elec-tricity and functioning of buildings even while we are away at
play.
BAA: The Bishop’s Annual Appeal has gone quite well so far this year as we are way ahead of schedule at 95% of our target.
Thank you for your generous participation! I have every confidence that as we all do our part we will finish this up this month. Howev-
er humble, please, please support our mother Church and send in your pledge this week. Thank you to those who responded even
before my letters got to you.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: RCIA is meant to help believers seek God and enter the way of faith and conver-sion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts, resulting in baptism, confirmation, sharing in the Eucharist, and enabling them to carry out the mission of the entire people of God in the Church and in the world. RCIA is a gradual process that takes place within the community of the faithful in which our whole community renews our own conversion so as to provide an example that will help the catechumens to obey the Holy Spir-it more generously. We need people who would like to ac-company newcomers to learn more about Christ in our Catho-lic faith. Would you like to help welcome these “newbies”? Please contact our RCIA Catechist, Fran McElroy [email protected], or Fr. Bob.
