La semana pasada se hizo un anuncio erróneo se señaló que el
dinero recaudado por los Caballeros de Colón de la venta del Tootsie Roll después de las misas seria para el fondo del techo. El dinero de la venta de Tootsie Roll no sera para el fondo del te-cho. El dinero del Tootsie Roll se utiliza para ayudar a las perso-nas con discapacidad intelectual. Le exhortamos a apoyar a nues-tro nuevo consejo en sus esfuerzos.

Pop Tabs...Join Holy Family in helping the Ronald McDonald House Charities by collecting pull pop tabs from soda pop cans. Simply pull off the pop tabs and turn them into the school office. Money raised by recy-cling pop tabs helps improve the health, well-being and education of local children.

Tamale Sale Sunday Morning September 30
Donation Update Donations received last week: $2,009. Our new total as of September 24 is $52,531. This is money received, not pledge amounts.
Tamales will be sold Saturday and Sunday September 29/30 after all the masses. The cost is $12 per dozen. Three types will be available: pork, chicken and cheese with jalapeno.
St. Joseph shirt sale on October 6/7. T-shirts in adult and kids sizes, embroidered polo shirts, pull over sweatshirts and zip up sweatshirts will be sold after the masses. Shirt orders will be taken.
Last weekend an erroneous announcement was made that the money collected from the Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll sale after the masses will go to the roof fund. Money from Tootsie Roll sales will not go into the roof fund. Tootsie Roll money is used to assist people with intellectual disabilities. We encourage you to support our new council in their endeavors. Roof News An independent roofing consultant has been hired to provide a professional, third-party opinion for our roof needs. Father Luis and a team of parishioners, with experience in con-struction and bid selection, will choose the contractor. Their goal is to make an informed decision to ensure that value is achieved and we get the roof that fits our needs. Deacon David Mowry I was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, on
July 11th, 1987. I am the oldest of three children born to my parents, Keith and Joan. I began elementary school in Mary-land, then transferred to St. Petronille School in Glen Ellyn in second grade. St. Petronille has been my home parish ever since, and Glen Ellyn my hometown. I at-tended Glenbard West High School, gradu-ating in 2005. In 2009, I finished college seminary at St. John Vianney Seminary and graduated from the University of St. Tho-mas in St. Paul, Minnesota with a double major in Phi-losophy and Catholic Studies. I then entered Mundelein Seminary for theology studies, and I began my fourth and final year of study there this fall. With the grace of God, I will be ordained a priest on May 18th next year.
In sixth grade, I was encouraged to consider the priesthood when the associate pastor at St. Petronille told me that I would make a good priest. However, I did not seriously contemplate the priesthood until my junior year of high school, after a Jeremiah Day event at Mundelein Seminary. I heard one of the seminarians give his voca-tion story, and what he said was crucial in convincing me to enter the seminary. He stated, “If you’re not in semi-nary, you’re only discerning about discerning about the priesthood.” Convinced that there was no other way I could be sure that God was calling me to become a priest, I applied to the Diocese of Joliet and St. John Vi-anney Seminary, and was subsequently accepted.
I am looking forward to assisting at St. Joseph's in the coming months. The people I have met so far at this parish have made me feel quite at home with their hospitality, and for that I deeply humbled and grateful. One of the joys of my formation for the priesthood has been getting to know the various parish communities in our diocese. If I could be so bold as to make a request, I would ask for help in developing my Spanish. While I am comfortable with all the Spanish Mass parts, I am unable to converse in Spanish. I thank everyone in ad-vance for their patience as I learn a new language, and I hope to be able to say more than “Hola” by the end of the year.
I am deeply grateful for all the prayers offered in support of vocations in addition to every other kind of support and encouragement given to my brother semi-narians as they discern the will of God. As I begin my final stages of preparation for priestly ordination, I will continue to pray for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and that the people of the Diocese of Joliet may ever be faithful witnesses to the Gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Catholic Charities Hosts Fundraiser
Catholic Charities presents “Playing for Miracles”, a dueling pianos extravaganza on Fri-day, October 26th at Ashton Place, 341 75th St., Willowbrook. The casual event features open bar, gourmet dining stations, incredible silent and live auctions, and the antics and showmanship of the dueling piano players from Chicago’s famous Howl at the Moon. TREE OF LIGHT INFANT MEMORIAL MASS
Sunday – November 4, 2012—2:00 p.m.
All families and individuals are welcome to attend this Mass at the St. Charles Pastoral Center in Romeoville. This beautiful liturgy, celebrated by Bishop Conlon, will remember babies who have been lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, infant death, other pregnancy losses or early childhood death. At 2:00 p.m., a special outdoor ceremony for family mem-bers to commemorate these babies will precede the mass. Family members may wish to arrive at 1:30 p.m. to sign in and to gather in the chapel. A recep-tion with light refreshments will be served immedi-ately following. DIOCESAN ELIZABETH MINISTRY TRAINING

Elizabeth Ministry is an international movement offering encouragement, hope and healing on issues related to the joys and sorrows of the childbearing years. The ministry is based on the visitation story of Mary and Elizabeth in Luke’s Gospel. Just as Mary came to Elizabeth for guid-ance after discovering she carried Our Savior in her womb, we too can be that support for others. Following their ex-ample we visit and share the sacredness of life. Women who are interested in starting or reviving this ministry at their parish must have parish approval and are welcome to come to this training/information day. Desirée Marciani, the associate director of The Center for Family Ministry, will facilitate the day. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The training begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. at St Francis of Assisi Parish, 1501 W. Boughton Rd. in Boling-brook. Registration is required. PATRIOTIC ROSARY
This month's Patriotic Rosary, sponsored by the Legion of Mary, will be held on Saturday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred

The Patriotic Rosary dedicates one Hail Mary in the traditional Catholic Rosary to each state of the United States. This devotion is held every 4th Satur-day of the month. Also, St. Petronille Parish located at 420 Glenwood Ave. in Glen Ellyn will hold the Patriotic Rosary in the Mary Chapel before the Blessed Sacrament at 2 p.m. every Friday (except October 5), until the No-vember election. Julie comes with a rich background in spiritual di-rection and workshops that foster a greater aware-ness of God's presence in everyday life, while Cindy offers spiritual companionship and mentor-ing on how to approach life with passion and joy.
"CELEBRATING ST. FRANCIS" Date: Tuesday, October 2, from 7-8:15 at the Motherhouse Chapel on the grounds of St. Fran-cis Woods Inspired and energized by the spirit and legacy of St. Francis, we will gather on this night that commemorates the anniversary of his death to celebrate the treasure he was for all of us. Please join us for this deeply moving and reflec-tive service consisting of prayers, readings and songs led by our Tau Singers under the direction of Sister Kathleen Hook who founded this group in July 2011 for the purpose of furthering the Franciscan charism.
