Prayer for Our Nation
God Our Father, giver of life,
We entrust the United States of America
to your loving care.
You are the rock on which this nation
was founded. You alone are the
true source of our cherished rights
to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Reclaim this land for your glory
and dwell among your people.
Send your spirit to touch the hearts
of our nation’s leaders.
Open their minds to the great worth
of human life and the responsibilities
that accompany human freedom.
Remind your people that true happiness
is rooted in seeking and doing your will.
Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate,
patroness of our land, grant us the courage
to reject the “culture of death.”
Lead us into a new millennium of life.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
The Parish Office will be closed Monday, May 25th
in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen at
9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26th.

I Am With You Always
Christ Renews His Parish I am with you always...these words
we’ve seen in scripture, on prayer cards and in
lesson plans. They bring comfort to the lonely.
When we see a picture of Jesus and read these
words we are no longer forgotten. We are com-
forted and loved. We see our heavenly Father’s
arms...open, waiting, loving us unconditionally.
What joy it is to have “family” in Jesus! Jesus, who knows us by name. We have that kind
of family here at St. John Vianney Parish. We are
children of God who love Jesus and his family. Come to our “family reunion” in October 2020
and participate in the Christ Renews His Parish
Women’s Retreat. There you can catch up with
“sisters” you have been missing and meet new
“sisters” you didn’t even know you had. All with
waiting and open arms, loving unconditionally.
Once you join in CRHP retreat his words, “I am
with you always” will never be the same. The next women’s Christ Renews His Parish
retreat is October 17 & 18, 2020. Call Judy Romano at 727.459.3108 or Connie
Thomas at 727.363.0510 for more information
and reservations.
Observances for the Week of May 24th
Sunday: The Ascension of the Lord; 7th Sunday
of Easter; World Communications Day Monday: St. Bede the Venerable, Priest and Doc-
tor of the Church; St. Gregory VII, Pope; St. Mary
Magdalene de’ Pazzi, Virgin; Memorial Day Tuesday: St. Philip Neri, Priest Wednesday: St. Augustine of Canterbury, Bishop Next Sunday: Pentecost Sunday
RCIA Alleluia! All are invited to come
celebrate with our RCIA Ministry
at a special public Pentecost Vigil
Mass on Saturday, May 30th at 7 p.m. After Easter Sunday, Christmas is the second
greatest feast in the Christian liturgical calendar,
but Pentecost Sunday is not far behind.
Coming 50 days after Easter, Pentecost marks the
descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles.
For that reason, it is often called “the birthday of
the church.” On this magnificent feast, when the
Holy Spirit came down upon the fear-filled
disciples and apostles in the Upper Room, the
Holy Spirit will come down upon those receiving
sacraments that evening. They will also be
receiving Jesus for the first time in their First
Holy Communions. Many of us will be receiving
our first weekend Holy Communions after
having to wait during this unprecedented time
of isolation. We hope to see many of you there,
so pass the word on to those who may not see
this message! Please pray for our group this week as they near
completion of their RCIA journeys and continue
with our parish family on our journeys to eternal
salvation! For information, please call Holly Benfield
at 360.1147, ext. 233.

Congratulations SJV Class of 2020! Our 8th grade class woke up to a great surprise!
Fr. Blum, Mrs. Fortier, and Sister Happiness
surprised them at home with their very own yard
signs, donated by our 7th grade families. It may not be the end of the year that we
hoped for, but we are so thankful for our St. John
Vianney community.

Prayer During A Health Crisis Compassionate and Loving Father,
In the face of confusion and concern
impart to us the calm of your presence. In You allow us to find hope and healing. Be with those who serve the sick and
give them Your caring hands. Be with those who lead and give them
Your Spirit of wisdom. Be with those who have fallen ill and
give them Your comforting heart. Wrap your arms around our world
and hold us in your love. Allow us at this time of trial to then serve as
instruments of that love to all we meet. We ask this in Your Name. Amen
