Who We Are and Where We Came From: Part VI

Annual Financial Report

Over the last several weeks we have been reflec"ng on God’s

gi#s to us in our community. This week we look at how well

we have managed those gi#s by looking at the finances of

our parish for Fiscal Year 2016-2017 (July 1, 2016 through

June 30, 2017). We will also look at how we are doing during

this current fiscal year. These figures are on an insert in this

week’s bulle"n.

We ended the past fiscal year with a net loss of $162,099.58.

This means simply we spent more than we took in. These

expenses were covered by using reserve funds (savings).

Looking at the current fiscal year we budgeted for a lean

but balanced budget. The Mid-year statement shows that

budget is not accurate. We are already at a loss of $39,724.81

and expect that deficit to grow larger by the end of the fiscal

year. We have been running deficits for the last several years

and have tried to cut costs and "ghten the budget. The

Finance Council has already begun to project next year’s

budget and to address the larger issues that have us living

beyond our income. Some major changes need to take place

in order to bring our parish financial situa"on into control so

that we can func"on within our means. Our parish reserves

have shrunk significantly and will soon be exhausted.

I ask two things: First be as generous as you can in support

of our parish. I am most grateful for the gi#s our parishioners

offer but have to ask for you to consider giving a bit more

and to give that amount regularly. Our income goes up and

down along with the seasons and Mass a'endance, but

unfortunately our expenses, especially salaries and u"li"es

remain constant. Secondly, I ask for your prayers for our

Finance Council and all the leadership of our parish as we

examine ways to bring us back into a balanced budget

situa"on. These plans will be shared as they take shape in the

next few months.

We remain grateful for all God’s gi#s and trust that he is with

us even during the lean "mes. We are grateful for all who

support the programs of our parish. Remember, the flip-side

of gra"tude is generosity. Please help support our parish.

Informe financiero anual

En las úl"mas semanas hemos estado reflexionando sobre los

dones de Dios para con nosotros en nuestra comunidad. Esta

semana nos fijaremos en cuán bien hemos manejado esos

dones mirando las finanzas de nuestra parroquia para el año

fiscal 2016-2017 (del 1 de julio de 2016 al 30 de junio de

2017). También veremos cómo nos está yendo durante el

año fiscal en curso. Estos datos los puedes encontrar en el

anejo del bole+n de esta semana.

Terminamos el pasado año fiscal con un déficit neto de

$162,099.58. Esto significa que gastamos más de lo que

ingresamos. Esos gastos se cubrieron mediante el uso de

fondos de reserva (ahorro). En cuanto al año fiscal actual,

hicimos un presupuesto ajustado pero equilibrado. Los infor-

mes de medio año reflejan que el presupuesto no es exacto.

Ya tenemos en un déficit de $ 39,724.81 y esperamos que el

déficit sea mayor al fin del año fiscal. Hemos estado regis-

trando déficits durante los úl"mos años; tratamos de reducir

costos y ajustar el presupuesto. El Consejo de Finanzas ya ha

comenzado a proyectar el presupuesto del próximo año para

atender los asuntos que comprometen nuestros ingresos. Se

deben realizar algunos cambios importantes para controlar la

situación financiera de nuestra parroquia para que podamos

funcionar dentro de nuestros medios. Nuestras reservas

parroquiales se han reducido significa"vamente y pronto se

agotarán.

Pido de ustedes dos cosas: Primero, que sea lo más

generoso posible para apoyar a nuestra parroquia. Estamos

agradecidos por los regalos que ofrecen nuestros feligreses,

pero tengo que pedirles que consideren dar un poco más y

que den ese monto regularmente. Nuestros ingresos suben

y bajan junto con las temporadas y la asistencia a la misa,

pero desafortunadamente nuestros gastos, especialmente

los salarios y las u"lidades, permanecen constantes. En

segundo lugar, pido sus oraciones por nuestro Consejo de

Finanzas y por todos los líderes de nuestra parroquia

mientras examinamos formas de lograr un presupuesto

equilibrado. Estos planes se compar"rán a medida que se

concreten en los próximos meses.

Seguimos agradecidos por todos los regalos de Dios y

confiamos en que él está con nosotros incluso durante los

"empos de escasez. Agradecemos a todos los que apoyan los

THE STATE FORWARD TEST BY: BETH EICHMAN, CHIEF. ADMIN. OF SCHOOLS

The students of the Choice Program (Grades 3-8) are required to take the State Forward Test annually. All tes!ng is computer based and results are sent to us in late May. The Dept. of Public Instruc!on uses this data as part of the State Report Card for each school in the Choice Program. Teachers prepare students with sample items similar to the test and prac!ce using the computer tools used for the Math tests. We ask our parents to make sure their children get lots of sleep and nutri!ous food during tes!ng !me. Please pray for our students during tes!ng !me and thank you for your con!nued support.
