Dear Friends,

Today’s Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ gives us an opportunity to

reflect on the celebration of the Eucharist in a way that we may not have time for on Holy

Thursday. The scripture readings recounted for us three different sacred meals: the

sacrifice offered by Melchizedek, Saint Paul’s description of the Last Supper, and Saint Luke’s

account of the multiplication of the loaves and fish. This Feast allows us to recall God’s many

gifts to us, most especially the gift of the Eucharist that we celebrate at the altar every Sunday.

Through this Feast may we come to a greater appreciation and love for the Body and Blood of

Christ, the ultimate gift of our loving Savior!

This week our parish community bid a prayerful farewell to our beloved Pastor Emeritus,

Monsignor Joseph T. Kane. His funeral on Wednesday was a tribute to a priestly life, well lived

in service to the People of God. His 19 years as our pastor and his 11 years as pastor emeritus

were filled with opportunities of grace and special love and concern for the people of this parish.

His interest never diminished for the events and growth of his beloved community. I was just sad

that in his last few years he was not able to be as present to the community as I know he would

have wished to be. For all those who participated in the Funeral Liturgy and who worked in the

various preparations for the Mass, a profound thank you and God bless you!

This Monday is Memorial Day. Mass will be celebrated in church at 9AM. Please

consider beginning this national holiday in a prayerful expression of gratitude for the men and women

who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve its freedoms. We are the

beneficiaries of their heroism, let us be forever grateful!

In last week’s bulletin I made an omission in expressing gratitude to a member of our Parish

Pastoral Council. I wish to acknowledge DOTTIE PRIOR who served as an Appointed Member to the

Council for the past nine years! Thank you Dottie for your willingness to serve so generously as a

member of the council!

This time of year we welcome home many members of our parish who have been away at different

universities and colleges. We want to also express our congratulations to all of our parish students who

have or will graduate this spring. We are proud of your accomplishments and wish all of you success in

your future endeavors and plans!

May Saint Robert Bellarmine, our patron and intercessor, bless all of us on our journey to the

Lord!

With prayers,

Divine Mercy Chaplet - Every Monday at 3pm, during adoration, a small group gets together to recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet. In this Year of Mercy, as declared by our Holy Father, this is a great opportunity to ask for God’s Mercy and pray for mercy for those that have passed before us. The chaplet was given to us from Jesus to Saint Faustina, it is easily said with a

rosary. Beryl Stine has gratuitously volunteered to provide pamphlets describing the prayers for those not familiar with the chaplet.

Thanks to all who contributed to this year's Pro-Life rose sale. We raised $1048 to help our local crisis pregnancy centers! As always, all of this money goes directly to help provide housing, counseling, medical care, education and supplies to women and children in need until they are able to meet their own needs. Your help is invaluable and very much appreciated.

The parish office will

be closed on Monday,

May 30 in observance

of Memorial Day.

5 K 6TH ANNUAL R.A.C.E. – THANK YOU

What a spectacular and perfect weather evening with all

the coral shirts as our SJR community ran/walked

together. The support and sponsorship from our families

and friends was again overwhelming. We had 400

runners/walkers and the crowd of spectators added to the

spirit of the RACE. We could not have accomplished

such a well-organized event without the enthusiasm of

our students, faculty, alumni, and SJR families. Please

go to the school website to view the race results and

fantastic pictures posted on our Facebook page.

JUST A THOUGHT: If anyone came to

the SJR campus last Friday they would

have the opportunity to see our SJR

community in action. For Field Day and

the Family BBQ, we had parents, students,

and faculty working and enjoying themselves together.

The weather was perfect.

That evening, the community reconvened for the

annual 5K RACE. Once again, it was a joy to see so

many parents, students, faculty, and staff work together

for the good of the school. What a powerful life lesson

for our children!

Thank you to everyone who helped at either/both

event(s). Your presence made a special day even nicer!!

FOCUS ON FAITH THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST . Luke 9:11b-17 Pointing to the Living Bread

Jesus provides a miraculous feeding of over five thousand with only five loaves and two fish. From

our scarcity, the Lord lavishly provides abundance. This sign points to the saving reality that we eat

and drink in the Eucharist: Jesus himself is the living bread come down from Heaven, the manna

given for our Salvation. When we receive and become the Body of Christ we are nourished to

share God’s lavish love with others!

Friday June 3 — THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Sometimes we meet that rare person who is overflowing with goodness. He or she exudes such a genuine

love that we almost can’t believe it but do because we have been the recipient of their authentic kindness.

We long to be in their presence. How much more so with the person of Jesus. Can we ever fully realize how

immense the love of Christ is for us? In the heart of Christ we find complete mercy and total

forgiveness, immense depths of compassion for our greatest sorrow and smallest ache, careful guidance for

our spiritual path, understanding for our confusions, patience with our questions, unwavering peace for our

tense and anxious spirits, and joy-filled beauty to draw us into the consolation and assurance of God’s love.

Heart of Jesus, what a treasure I have in the riches of your unconditional love.

May my heart resound with your goodness.
