Word of God in a nutshell: Jesusdisciples were grieving and shocked at the death of Jesus especial- ly Peter who was ridden with guilt for denying Jesus 3x. When dawn came, they were filled with joy when the risen Christ appeared, shared a meal with them and Peter was forgiven. The risen Christ comes to us in the Eucharist bringing nourishment, forgiveness and joy. Challenge: Do you recognize Jesus only after signs and miracles, or do you see Him in the simple acts of life, such as sharing a meal? On Friday 26 April 2019, St Joachims Catholic Par- ish, Lidcombe, hosted a Prayer Service, with mem- bers of the Muslim community, to show our support for Christians in Sri Lanka. Fr Eduardo offered pray- ers for the victims and spoke of these attacks occur- ring when Christians were celebrating the most im- portant event in their calendar. Visitors to this ser- vice included two Imams from the Australian National Imams Council who quoted various parts of the Quran that spoke of respecting life and the right of others to follow their beliefs; and representatives of the Sri Lanka Islamic Council and Cumberland Council who spoke of the need for tolerance and respect for each other. Geoff Barrett, on behalf of the Auburn Interfaith Network, spoke of the need for solidarity in faith groups putting aside differences to focus on the need to stand beside innocent victims of these types of atrocities.
