On Wednesday, September 7, 2011 we welcomed our Class of 2015, our 74thgraduating class! Their day was filled with the excitement and nervousness that comeswith Freshman year. The new Bambies ran through their roster, received their lockerkeys, took their ID pictures, and ended their day with "The New Bambies-on-the-Block party" organized by the Bambie Ambassadors and Student Council. Thepurpose of this annual event is for freshmen to get to know their fellow Bambies andto familiarize themselves with the building before the first day of classes for all students. We give them a big Brown and Gold welcome and we wish them the best of luck over the next four years!

Initiated in 1992, the St. Hubert Distinguished graduate Awardrecognizes an alumna who has remained dedicated to her Alma Mater, serves as an active member of the volunteer supporters and is committed to the success of St. Hubert for generations to come. It is with great pleasure that St. Hubert High School for Girls announces the 2011 Distinguished Graduate, Mary Louise Tanner Stott class of 1976.

Mary Lou served as an Activity Representative, tutored at Our Lady of Consolation School, and performed in the school musicales. She later attended The Career Educational Institute. Robert Stott, a member of the Philadelphia Police Force, they have three children, Robert, and twins, James and Kathryn who attended Father Judge and St. Hubert ,respectively. Professionally Mary Lou has worked as a Medical Secretary and presently is a bookkeeper for an insurance agency.

Mrs. Judy Basara, who many knew as Miss Belcak, spent the past 41 years at St. Hubert as a math teacher, chair of the Math Department, and in recent years as Guidance Director. For a number of years, she also served as the chair of the Archdiocesan Math Curriculum Committee. In addition to her day to day dedication as teacher, she was also instrumental in organizing the Silent Auction and other events that helped to build the Faculty Scholarship Fund.

Mrs. Pat Berry, a Bambie, Class of 1968 and a member of our Hall of Fame, began as an English teacher, and then Physical Ed teacher for 39 years As our basketball coach and Athletic Director

for many of those years, she was widely known and respected not only in the Philadelphia Catholic League but also in the PIAA. She was an outstanding advocate for sports, especially for women’s sports programs, and was one of the pioneers taking the PCL into the PIAA. Mrs. Berry’s three

daughters followed in her footsteps as Bambies and two of them are teachers!

Ms. Pearl Chong, who taught here for 37 years, was initially a member of the Social Studies Department. In more recent years, as a certified librarian, Ms. Chong was instrumental in acquiring many on-line programs for the library and introducing the freshmen each year to our various computer programs. She also provided in-service for the on-line programs for Faculty members. Through her initiative, St. Hubert was a pioneer in the on-line testing for our summer program (SRC).

Sister Carol Marie, IHM, aka “The Sewing Nun,” spent over 25 years teaching sewing (and in earlier days, cooking). In recent years, Sister Carol was our Attendance Officer. Many a Bambie

can say that Sister Carol helped make them look beautiful for their prom (and perhaps their wedding, too)! Now as a member of the Camilla Hall Staff, she will no doubt continue to put her

talents to use by beautifying the surroundings for the retired IHM Sisters.

Mrs. Regina Storaska, spent the past 26 years teaching Bambies science and math. In addition to her classes, students always looked forward to her various appearances in the Faculty Follies. She was also a wonderful example of community service, actively participating in Philly Abundance and other community organizations. In addition to working fund raising events to benefit the hungry, she spent many of her summer days delivering food to distribution centers.

Sister Regina McCloskey, OSF, served here for 26 years, first as theology teacher, then as the “Copy Nun” and later as guidance counselor. In addition to student interviews, Sister was also responsible for helping our Bambies prepare their college applications. A good listener, she was

sought out by students and faculty alike for counsel. After spending a number of summers assisting at her community’s retirement home, Sister was asked to take on a full-time position as a

counselor at Assisi House, the retirement convent for the Sisters of St. Francis.

Mrs. Joan Boyle spent 27 years as our Tuition Officer. Students and parents alike visited and called her daily to take care of their financial obligations here at St. Hubert, and to seek advice on payments, amounts due, etc. She was an important part of our Main Office staff over the years, filling in where necessary, and making sure the bells rang on time!

Thank You and Happy Retirement

May God bless each one and grant them many happy years of retirement. The Bambi alums and students are indeed grateful for their generous years of service.

St. Hubert is excited to announce the launch of the school’s new website at the end of July 2011, changing the look and feel of www.huberts.org! President, Sister Mary Smith, IHM, Principal, Regina Craig, and Director of Admissions, Annemarie Szambelak ’02 have worked with the entire campus community to develop the structure of the new site. Keeping the same domain name, the new huberts.org will provide a user with a unique interactive experience. The St. Hubert website is an outsider’s first point of contact with the school, and we want new users to see who we are so they can understand why we are unique. The new design is meant to be an authentic representation of our school community. New architectural features should facilitate more user-friendly experience and, ultimately, increase our website traffic. The site will also feature a content-specific section for Alumnae, known as portals, which will offer dedicated news to

Alumnae. This portal will replace the current hubertscommunity.org site as the “go-to” place for current news about the Alumnae and school, and will be rolled out in phases after the launch. Users of www.hubertscommunity.org will continue to access information on that site until the respective portal is launched.

New Online Portal The new online portal is a great way to connect with Alumnae! The St. Hubert Online Community is an interactive forum in which Alumnae and Friends of St. Hubert can share news, post business information, network with other professionals, and receive information about the happenings at St. Hubert High School! After the new site launches, you will probably be wondering what will happen to all your other information on the other online community, it will be deleted.

Login!Your login information is very simple! Visit the Alumnae section of our website and click community. You will be asked to login your information. To login to the new website your username is your first initial, last name, and the last two digits of your year of graduation.

For example, Susie Hubert would like to login to the online community; her user name is: shubert42. Your password will be your constituent id, which you can find on the mailer part of your news letter . If you have any questions or need help, please email: [email protected].

We need your help! We are looking for two dedicated Alumnae from each class, to keep their classmates up to date on reunion information and class announcements on the online community. If you would be interested in being a representative for your class, please email: [email protected]. We can’t wait to hear what you think of the online community!
