Dear Members of the St Gregory’s Family,
Welcome to a brand New Year after what I hope has been a restful and peaceful break for everyone. In particular, I would like to welcome families that are new to the College and especially the families that are joining the College through the Junior School.
It will be an exciting and historical year as 2018 will be significant in the life of the College as we open the new Junior School. There will be over one hundred and eighty boys and girls, who will be joining us for the first time. This a major change for the College as it has always been a Year 7 – 12 boys only high school. Having said that, the College was established, for country boys who would be boarding. The College has had to move with the times over the years and on this occasion, it is not any different. Due to the changing nature of the educational landscape and the demand for housing in the local area, the College has responded to the needs of the area.
The College will welcome the new Headmaster at some stage this year before he takes over in 2019. This is a significant time of change on many fronts but it is important to remember that the culture and values of the College and the community don’t change. The emphasis on family and community are one of the strengths of St Gregory’s and it is something that I would always work hard to maintain.
The College Calendar is presented each year in order help you with the dates and functions that take place throughout the year. There will be even more dates included this year because of the Junior School being attached. The photos are a wonderful reminder of all the activities that the students can involve themselves in at St Gregory’s.
I look forward to welcoming our new and returning families in 2018 in what I am sure will be a memorable year. I am sure as we place our trust in Mary and St Marcellin we will reap what we sow.
