Message from the Principal Dear Parents, As you may have heard from your son or daughter we currently are hosting the team from the Independent Schools Inspectorate. They are enjoying their time in Luxembourg and at the School and we look forward to receiving their report on the School next term. We have had two excellent performances from Year 3 depicting Charlie and the Chocolate factory last week which were simply amazing and a great tribute to the talent and hard work of both Year 3 and Year 5 as the supporting choir. Equally superb was the performance of our Secondary student debating team at the COBIS debating competition in Bucharest over the weekend where they managed to reach a very impressive third place competing against 15 other international schools from across the globe. Well done! We are now in the last week before half-term and I am sure that all families have exciting adventures planned next week – whether joining in the Carnival festivities here in Luxembourg or travelling abroad. Please do travel safely and enjoy the break. School starts again on Monday the 23rd February 2015. Morning Drop Off• Please be reminded that Early Years children can be taken to their classrooms after 8:00am in the morning.

• All other students remain outside in the fresh air until 8:20am when the whistle is blown in the playground.

• Reception students can be dropped at their outside work area from 8:00am, but as they are transitioning, they will remain outside at teacher discretion until 8:20am. Please do not take them inside to the Foundation corridor unless directed to do so by staff in poor weather conditions. Teachers and Assistants are doing preparation work at this time, or may be in staff meetings.

• Year 1 and above should all remain outside in the playground if they arrive before 8:20am. The only exception to this is for students going to the library. If they are doing this then they must take their coat and all bags with them to the library. Please do not enter the lower corridor for Year 1 classrooms before 8:20am as staff are planning and making preparations for the day. They are not available to look after students.

• In the event of poor weather, you will be informed that students can go directly inside to classrooms as staff will be expecting them.

The St George’s Pirate Treasure Map is Back!Similar to previous years St George’s staff and older students will be participating in the ‘Relais Pour La Vie’. As part of our fundraising for this brilliant cause, we have our fantastic treasure map displayed in the Reception area. Can you help find the 5 lots of treasure the forgetful pirates have lost? After 3:00pm we invite students and parents to take part in our game to guess where the treasure is buried. Each guess costs 1 euro. We have 5 prizes up for grabs. All money raised will be added to our donation to the cancer charity fundraising.

If you would like to share your community events, please email [email protected] before 10:00am every Tuesday. Please note that these events are not organised by the School and we provide this listing as a consideration towards our community.

St George’s COBIS World Debating Plate Champions 2015A massive congratulations to the COBIS Debating Team for their fantastic achievement in Bucharest. Last week the Debate Team left for Romania to compete in the Annual COBIS World Competition. The St George’s students demonstrated a brilliant display of showmanship as they battled their way through to an outstanding third place. This is a magnificent achievement for St George’s – out of the six debates that took place over the two days, the students won four, drew one and lost one. St George’s is extremely proud of the outstanding skills portrayed throughout the competition and of course the final outcome – a result which has set a new record in our books and will surely be hard to beat next year! Well done!
