Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us conduct ourselves becomingly as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. As for the man who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not for disputes over opinions. One believes he may eat anything, while the weak man eats only vegetables. Let not him who eats despise him who abstains, and let not him who abstains pass judgment on him who eats; for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? THE GOSPELThe Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew 6:14-21
The Lord said to His Disciples: If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father also will forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. And when you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, that your fasting may not be seen by men but by your Father Who is in secret; and your Father Who sees in secret will reward you. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
فصل شريف من بشارة القديس متى قال الرب لتالميذه : إن غفرتم للناس زالتهم يغفر لكم أبiiوكم السiiماوي, وإن لم تغفروا للناس زالتهم, ال يغفر لكم أبوكم السماوي زالتكم. ومتى صمتم فال تكونوا عابسين مثل المرآئين. فإنهم يكلحiiون وجiiوههم ليظهiiروا للنiiاس أنهم صiiائمون. الحق أقول لكم: إنهم قد أخذوا أجiiرهم. أمiiا أنت, فمiiتى صiiمت, فiiادهن رأسiiك واغسل وجهك, حتى ال تظهر للناس أنك صائم, بل ألبيك الذي في الخفية, وأبiiوك الذي في الخفية هو يكافئك عالنية. ال تكنزوا لكم كنiiوزا على األرض, حيث يفسiiد

Meditation: “Cheese-Fare Sunday (The Sunday of Forgiveness)” The Holy Fathers have appointed the commemoration of Adam’s exile from the Paradise of delight here, on the eve of the holy 40-day Fast, demonstrating to us not by simple words, but by actual deeds, how beneficial fasting is for man, and how harmful and destructive is the transgressing of the Divine Commandments. For the first commandment that God gave to man was that of fasting, which the first-fashioned received but did not keep; and not only did they not become gods, as they had imagined, but they lost even that blessed life which they had, and they fell into corruption and death, and transmitted these and innumerable other evils to all of mankind. The God-bearing Fathers set these things before us today, that by bringing to mind what we have fallen from, and what we have suffered because of the disobedience of the first-fashioned, we might be diligent to return again to that ancient bliss and glory by means of fasting and obedience to all the divine commands. Taking occasion from today’s Gospel to begin the Fast unencumbered by enmity, we also ask forgiveness this day, first from God, then from one another and all creation.

Bible StudyArabic Bible study will resume on Mondays beginning, March 6 th, 2017 at 7pm. We will be discussing the letter of St. Paul to the Philippians.
Church SchoolCreative Arts Festival Workshop: TODAY, all classes Grades 1 through 12 will meet in their classrooms from the beginning of collection until 1:30PM. They will work on creating their entries - Essays, Poetry, Art, Photography, and Video - for our Diocese's annual competition. Participants will be served lunch. Topic: "My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations."
Humanitarian CommitteeThe Sunshine Fellowship for all retirees (male and female) will be holding its second event - "The Doctor Is In" - on Saturday, March 4th, - from 11:30 to 1:30 pm. Dr. Emad Jacobs will advise on how to slow the aging process and feel better. Questions and answers session at end of discussion.
Parish Council MeetingParish Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at 7:30 pm. The meeting is open to all our beloved parishioners.
Prayer CommitteeParaklesis Service will be held every first Wednesday of the month at 7 pm. This service is offered especially for ill people and those having hard times in their lives. Please submit to the office any names that you want us to pray for. Thank you!
Parish Life ConferenceThis year our parish will be hosting the Parish Life Conference for the entire Diocese. It will be held on June 28 through July 2, 2017. The hotel arrangements have been secured and it is time to begin

Ladies Society The Month of March is Ladies’ Month.
Every Sunday in March, a member of the Ladies’ Society will read the epistle, assist in the collection and ushering the lines for communion and dismissal. “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us” (Phil 4:13).
We are now taking orders for Spinach Pies. If you would like to place an order, please see any Ladies Society Member, call or email the church office at 973-256-8961 or [email protected] . Cost $15.00 per dozen. Pick-up date, Sunday, March 23rd.

Archdiocesan Convention to Celebrate Bishop Antoun’s Lifetime of ServiceAfter eight decades of “love, humility and sunshine” in service to the Antiochian Orthodox Church, His Grace Bishop Antoun of the Diocese of Miami and the Southeast is retiring from active ministry. This July 23-30, the Antiochian Archdiocese’s biennial convention in Miami will celebrate his remarkable witness to our Lord Jesus Christ as an acolyte, deacon, priest and bishop. The convention’s host, St. George Cathedral of Coral Gables, Florida is preparing exciting festivities. His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph, the venerable hierarchs and the Board of Trustees of the Archdiocese urge all of the clergy and
faithful to make plans now to honor Bishop Antoun personally by attending this historic convention. St. George Cathedral will dedicate the “History Journal” to His Grace that will be filled with photos and tributes.
