FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK: Check out the new picture for St. Francis Xavier in Church. Find the niche where we light candles. There is a reproduction of the Miracles of St. Francis Xavier by the painter Peter Paul Rubens in 1617. The

painting depicts the miracles by St. Francis during his mission to Asia and includes a large variety of figures from Asia and Africa, as well as

the destruction of a Hindu idol in the background. Fr. Gerry

Summer Rosary Challenge In place of the monthly rosary before masses, we are challenging you to set your own prayer intentions and pray the rosary this summer. First, choose an intention to pray for: peace in our communities and country, an end to the Covid pandemic, or a personal need. Then decide how often you will pray the rosary. It could be daily, weekly, or monthly—whatever works for you and your family. No sign up is necessary. However, please, keep track of the number of rosaries that you pray. Our parish goal will be to pray

1,000 rosaries between the Fourth of July and Labor Day. Then we will present our total to our Blessed Mother on her birthday, which the Church celebrates on September 8. Rosary beads and how-to pray the rosary brochures are by the statue of Our Lady at the back of the church. So, find those beads, choose your goal, and read the bulletin next week for more information.

will be used again once we are allowed don’t worry). Thanks again!!

FOOD DRIVE - sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council #40

By donating one can of food per day, we can raise hundreds or even thousands of pounds of food to help support the needs of our New Milford brothers and sisters. Although the emphasis is on canned goods; any and all types of food are welcome. Monetary donations are also welcomed since they allow for the purchase of necessary items that may be in short supply. A collection table is located on the right side of our altar. The Church will be open 7:00 am - 3:00 pm daily so that individuals can still come and pray as they drop off their items. If you are able to donate you may do so during that time, PLEASE BE GENEROUS. Items collected will be donated to Loaves & Fishes and also to the Social Services Food Bank to help our many families affected by these trying times. We thank you for your generosity to our families, friends and neighbors. May God continue to bless us all.

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2020-2021 FAITH FORMATION YEAR WILL TAKE PLACE AT A TIME, DATE AND PLACE

TO BE DETERMINED!!

Dear Catechists, Assistants and ALL Volunteers: NEW AND EXPERIENCED!!

We are trying to plan ahead for the coming 2020-2021 Faith Formation year and we need to know if you are planning on returning to volunteer or join our program. At this time we are looking to offer 3 waves of classes on Sundays ONCE A MONTH 8:30-9:45am; 11:15am-12:30pm OR 1:30-2:45pm AND Mondays 6:00-7:15pm (we can always add another day if the need arises). This plan would include K-8 (with grades 9&10 being offered on another week; but still once a month). Also it looks like we will NOT be having after school busing so if parents can get their child here we could still do Tuesday grades K-2 after school (4-5:15pm) and Wednesday grades 3-5 (same time) and ONCE A MONTH. Our new program will include a BLENDED HOME COMPONENT. Please call or email us asap with your availability 860-354-5372 for Sue and 860-354-2202 for Chris. We are here Monday - Thursday 9am-5pm. Thank you to each of you for ALL you have done for our Parish. Take care, stay safe and healthy and God bless!!

Our Readings: 2Kings 4:8-11,14b-16a; Psalm 89; Rom.6:3-4,8-11; Matt.10:37-42 To encounter Jesus demands a choice: to accept him or reject him. Those who deny Jesus to save their earthly lives risk losing eternal salvation. At the time of Jesus, Baptism was an emersion into the river. Dying and rising. It’s the Pascal Mystery. We die to the wants of this world to survive and take on the Commandments to gain eternal life. Of course that means we share our life with Jesus. We share Jesus’ persecution and suffering and his resurrection. Notice the second reading! Brothers and sisters: are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might live in newness of life. If then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall live with him. We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more; death no longer has power over him. Jesus stands before us today. Choose life or death! Fr. Gerry Just wanted you to know, weekend Masses RETURN on the weekend of July 4th & 5th. Saturday the 4th at 5:00pm and Sunday July 5th 7:30am and 10:00am. REMINDER: There is no Sunday 5:00 pm during July and August.
