Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ
Thank you for your generosity to the Annual Catholic Min-istries appeal. Because of your generosity numerous pro-jects were funded or helped and the parish benefited be-cause we got back $ 9000.00. This was the money over and above our contribution. So we were able to spend $ 4500 .00 to fix the loud speaking system. We were able to give back $ 3000.00 to the Diocese towards paying off some of our debt. The Annual Appeal helps fund various projects in the Diocese as the leaflet you receive last week tells you. Every one of its ministries need all the funds it receives. Your gen-erosity is part of the mercy that we are called to show to others. Since I came to this parish I have been amazed by the many causes you have chosen to be involved with and they are too numerous to list. Thank you!
As we move into the season of Lent let us as a faith commu-nity try to use the “Rediscovering Jesus” Book to renew our Faith to strengthen our commitment to one another but above all to get to know Jesus . In the opening Chapter we hear Paul being asked “Are you Jesus” and you remember the story I told in my homily a few weeks ago when I said “He has no arms but your arms , no legs but your legs, Je-sus is counting on You” Most of us are always in a hurry so lets take time out this lent to see what we can do for Jesus. Reading this book together as a parish and reflecting to-gether can help us do this. Let us Journey together and let us pray together and say together from the book “Jesus give me the courage to let down my guard” Pray for me as I pray for, Fr Karl
CREEKSIDE CARES
Creekside Cares fills backpacks with food every week, delivering them to roughly 190 kids right here in Plainfield School District 202 whose fami-lies are struggling to make ends meet at home. St. Francis Xavier is collecting food on 2/6 & 2/7 to donate to the program. They specifically need canned vegetables, canned fruits, macaroni and cheese, pasta, rice, instant oatmeal, cereals, cereal bars, canned soups, ramen noodles, peanut but-ter, jelly, hot cocoa, canned pasta sauce, toma-toes, canned pastas (ie: Spaghetti O’s), canned chili, beans, canned pasta sauce, canned tuna, canned chicken, and individual snacks such as granola bars, fruit chews, snacks, pudding, ap-plesauce, cookies, crackers, chips, raisins, and cheese and crackers. Together we can end hunger in our own commu-nity. If you would like more information please visit their website http://creeksidecares.org/ or contact Tom Mulcahy at

Looking for a way to start Your New Year Journey?
St. Francis Xavier is reaching out to parish members en-gaged in the roll of caregiving. Many times families are faced with decisions regarding the well-being of their loved ones. If you had thought about finding help, but not sure where to turn, maybe we can be of assistance. If the interest is there we are considering several types of options. A Caregiver support group can provide an atmosphere of understanding with opportunity to explore common diffi-culties and experiences that come with the journey. We would also like to make available a one on one meeting with an individual who can help you take that step forward into a support group. St. Francis Xavier wants to be there for you on your journey, whatever it may be, when it comes to caring for a loved one. Through a support group we can share resources, community programs and help you con-nect with other individuals who are facing similar needs. Caregiving is a choice. We can offer our hand to give you a sense of security knowing you are not alone. Let us help you take that step forward to help yourself. You need to take your oxygen first and then be the very best you can for the loved one you are helping. If you are interested in tak-ing that first step forward… please call the parish office. We are here for you. You do not need to do this alone. 815-609-8077
