As I mentioned in the past, we friars are available for the Anointing of the Sick. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick can be given whenever a person is facing a serious medical condition. One does not have to wait until a person “takes a turn for the worse”. As most of you are well aware traffic on I-95 and U.S. Route 1 is now, more than ever, becoming gridlocked on the weekends. I mention this to you because there have been situations recently where we friars have been called to a hospital for an emergency anointing, and consequently, it has taken us friars more than two hours on certain weekends to get to hospitals, to perform an emergency anointing of a parishioner. Church sacramental guidelines say that an anointing should be done before the person passes away or immediately after death. Thus, it is best that in the case of a hospital patient, you have the hospital personnel contact the local parish so that the priest can be at the bedside in minutes, not hours. Every local hospital has a nearby Catholic parish that is responsible for an “emergency” anointing. Below is the list of parishes responsible for responding for emergency anointings. The parishes responsible for emergency anointing are:

If you or a family member is in the hospital or homebound, please call the Parish Office if you would like a visit from one of the friars. The hospitals are not permitted to give out the names of patients, so the only way we will know if you are in the hospital is if you or a family member inform us.
There is a book located in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel next to the Tabernacle for you to write your own prayers of petition. During the Prayer of the Faithful during weekend liturgies, an intercession will call to mind those prayers in a general way. In this manner, the public prayer of the church is bound to the many prayers of the faithful who live in the body of Christ!

VBS Registration Has Begun!
Please register as soon as possible. Many volunteers are needed to make this an awesome week! June 17th-21st, grades: (rising) Pre-K (4 years old)—(rising) 6th. Registration forms are located in the vestibule of the Church and online at http://www.stfrncis.org/welcome-and-introduction/. RE registration for 2019-20 began on April 23, 2019 and will continue until the Fall. There will be a late fee after the first week of classes to encourage timely registration. Mission 2019 Vitamin Campaign
Our Missioners traveling to Peru in June will again be carrying children’s vitamins for the parish medical clinics at Santa Ana and in the Pastoral Zone. The children suffer greatly from the developmental effects of poor nutrition. Children’s vitamins are expensive and hard to obtain in Peru.
Fr. Tony specifically requested that we (our Missioners) bring “gummies” for the very young children.
Our goal is to carry 500lbs / 72,000 gummies with us.
Less than $9 provides about 320 gummy vitamins.
Donations of any dollar amount would be appreciated.
Envelopes can be found on the bulletin board on your right as you leave church.
