Potluck and Wine Tasting at the Diack Homestead July 15th On a wonderfully drizzly Sunday we drove out to Boring to Katharine

Diack’s property on the banks of the Sandy River. What a beautiful place it is, nestled amid acres of pristine wilderness, with a deck overlooking the beautiful Sandy River, and a rustic home with every amenity. It is a treasure. Some took a walk down a misty, overgrown trail to the water’s edge, where a family of Canadian Geese put on a show for us. Later, we watched rafters float colorfully by. Then back to the house for lunch. So many delicious dishes, salads and desserts. With our appetite sated we had only to taste and

evaluate three flights of wines, selected by Jack McSheffrey: some interesting and lively choices! Thanks to Katharine and Jack for this wonderful day in the woods. Thanks to Chuck Gutweniger for the pictures.

What a beautiful evening to drive to Southeast Portland for a delicious Mediterranean inspired meal at Tabla! Eighteen EDSO members and guests gathered in this lovely bistro to partake of their simple, handmade pastas and perfectly seasoned meat dishes. The salads were fresh and filled with surprising fruits and vegetables. We lingered and

talked and bid arrivederci to drive home in the late Portland sunset. Thanks to Susan Thiel for arranging this great evening. And thanks to Chuck Gutweniger for the photos.
