Welcome to Hooray For Hollywood! We are thrilled that you came to join us this evening and excited to present for you our tribute to movie music.

Back in October when we first started selecting music, I was thinking, “This is going to be such an easy theme. There’s so much music…we can just pick the best and our favorite songs.” A “narrowed down” spreadsheet 300 songs later, made me realize there is SO much great movie music and this might actually be one of the hardest themes we’ve ever had in terms of choosing the music for the show. It seemed every time I turned on the radio or watched a movie, another alternative would pop up. Well, the song list has been finalized. We’ve tried to put together a wide range of decades and styles and hopefully, you’ll hear one or two of your favorites tonight.

I’ve been a movie lover from a young age. I can remember sitting at my grandparents’ house watching Casablanca and falling in love with the coy way Humphrey said “Here’s looking at you, kid”. And nothing can compare to the first look at Gilda as Rita Hayworth flips her gorgeous hair back over her head. Or, that terrifying Wicked Witch as she summons her flying monkeys. Or, Ferris dancing and singing on a float down Dearborn Street.

These quotes, scenes, and images become ingrained in who we are, but sometimes, even more so, it’s the music. Would Darth Vader be AS imposing if “The Imperial March” weren’t playing with every step he took? Would Jaws be AS scary without those two haunting notes running through the background?

There is something truly magical that can happen on screen… a fun escape into places and worlds beyond our own. Our hope is that we do the same for you this evening by entertaining you and for a few hours bring you to our crazy world of Snack Theatre.

A big thank you to the cast and crew. This show isn’t possible without all your dedication and hard work. It’s kind of amazing what a bunch of people can accomplish when they work together. Swish and flick. Bam. Whoosh.

Congratulations to the Cast and Crew of Hooray for Hollywood.

The sixth parish musical invites you to enjoy the songs that have warmed our hearts and souls for generations. Musicals have a way of lifting people’s spirits and making us laugh. Every year I am amazed by the level of creativity and the countless hours that the cast and crew have given to making this show so enjoyable. Our parish musical also provides an opportunity for people of all ages to work together, to mentor one another and to pray together.

A parish musical is suppose to be fun, uplifting and an opportunity for people to come together for some wholesome, family orientated entertainment. I am grateful for all the hard work that has gone into this years’ production

Special thanks to Jenni Falk for her fourth year directing our parish show. Saint Edna is so blessed by her talent and youthful enthusiasm.

Thanks for your support and presence at Saint Edna’s parish musical. Thanks to God for the gift of music and song that helps us to forget our troubles for a while and to rejoice in all that is good. Hope you enjoy the show
