PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Warm greetings my fellow Peterites!

We have had an exciting start to the 2018/19 year beginning withwinning the overall championship at the 51st Saints Quadrangular forthe 2nd consecutive year – in the process annexing the Over 40cricket, Basketball and Rugby titles. My sincere thanks go out to allour teams and the Peterite organizing committee. The “GoldenGleam 2018” annual dinner dance was a sell out as usual and furtherraised the bar of the already high standard expected from thePeterite dance. The team headed by Kanishka Hewage did a stellarjob and my thanks go out to them. This is our main fund raiser for theyear and it is indeed heartening to see it grow from strength tostrength.

With regard to the overseas branches, I have had a couples ofmeetings with the old boys’ group in Dubai and am happy to notethat they will be under the main OBU umbrella soon. I was able tovisit the UK OBU branch and update them on all OBU activities in SriLanka. The dinner dance planned for 24th November in the UK isalready sold out. I will also be visiting the branch in Canada for theirAGM on 30th November and will be briefing them on the ongoingprojects. I hope to keep all branches, batch groups and membersupdated on all developments related to the OBUH Secretariatconstruction. I would like to extend a special thanks to SenaniGunesekara for joining the main OBU team to coordinate with alloverseas branches to raise funds for the OBUH secretariat.

In closing, I would like thank the editorial team headed by ShiyanJayaweera for re-initiating the OLD PETERITE NEWS LETTER.

PRE 70S' STAG OUTING

Peterites from the Pre-Seventies era met at a 'Stag' outing on Sunday, 26th August at the 'Randiya' hotel, Moratuwa to relive the days of friendship and merriment and share stories of their escapades at school. It was also an occasion for some who had come all the way from Australia to get together with their classmates. Some from the 71-74 Batch also joined in the fun. With a calypso band providing music, good food and strong liquid to wash it down with, needless to say all had a good time.
