SPEAKERS

Carl Bassi, PhD, develops novel approaches to evaluate the visual system in order to improve disease diagnosis, assessment of progression, and treatment. Bassi’s lab interests include: developing new devices for the assessment of color vision, visual suppression, and photophobia; evaluating the effects of a macular pigment, zeaxanthin, on visual function; evaluating color vision in applied settings; and electrophysiological as well as psychophysical techniques to assess structure-function relationships in patients with dementia, glaucoma, macular degeneration and other retinal abnormalities.

Marc Bloomenstein, OD FAAO, graduated from UCLA and received his OD from the New England College of Optometry. He completed a residency in secondary ophthalmic care at the Barnet Dulaney Eye Center in Phoenix before receiving his AAO fellowship in 1998. Currently he is the Director of Optometric Services at the Schwartz Laser Eye Center in Scottsdale, Arizona and President of MRB Eye Consultants. He served as the President of the Arizona Optometric Association and the Arizona Optometric Charitable Foundation. He lectures worldwide and serves as a consultant to numerous industry-leading pharmaceutical, biomedical and information technology companies.

This year the Missouri Optometric Association is “Exceeding the Vision” with 15 continuing education hours available to ODs (14 w/ workshop). SPEAKERS

M. Patrick Coleman, COT, ABOC, has managed numerous optometry and ophthalmology clinics in military and civilian environments, interacting with 40+ optometrists and ophthalmologists in the past 28 years. A Master Instructor for the Air Force Optometric Technician program for over five years, Coleman trained hundreds of eye technicians & dispensing opticians. Currently, he is a National Paraoptometric Speaker who helps others learn by presenting material in an entertaining and understandable manner.

Julie DeKinder, OD, FAAO, FSLS is an associate clinical professor at University of Missouri-St. Louis specializing in contact lenses. She graduated from Northeastern State University College of Optometry and completed a Cornea and Contact Residency at the UM-SL College of Optometry. She is Director of Academic and Residency Programs, chief of contact lens services, and coordinator of the contact lens residency. Her primary teaching responsibilities include clinical and didactic instruction in contact lenses. She is a member of the AOA, MOA, and Association of Optometric Contact Lens Educators (AOCLE). She is active in the ACOE, and serves on committees for the AAO, ACOE, NBEO and ASCO.

Michael Doll, joined the ZeaVision in 2010, and currently serves as the Senior National Accounts Director. He speaks professionally in the fields of Optometry and Professional Motivation. He has certified AOA courses for Para Optometric and staff “A Technical and Education look at AMD and Dry Eye” and is currently writing one for “Diabetic “at risk” patients and Retinopathy.” He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where he studied marketing and management. He lives in St. Peters, Missouri, with his two sons, and enjoys outdoor activities with family and friends.

SPEAKERS Mohammad Rafieetary, OD, FAAO is a consultative optometric physician. He has been is in practice at the Charles Retina Institute (CRI) since 1996. A graduate of Boston University and UM-SL, he completed a residency in Primary Care Optometry and Ocular Disease at SCO and the Memphis Health Center. Awards he has received include SCO Faculty of the Year, American Diabetic Association’s National Achievement of Distinction Award, and the Tennessee Associations of Optometric Physician’s Optometrist of the Year.Optometric Retina Society. He is published in numerous professional journals and lectures extensively on the subject of diseases of the eye with emphasis on conditions of the retinal and vitreous.

Carol Scott, OD, is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). Dr. Scott has been a Fellow of COVD since 1993. She is a past president of COVD. She is also a member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, Sports Vision Section and Vision Rehabilitation Section of the AOA, MOA, and Optometric Extension Program Foundation. Currently she is at the Vision Rehabilitation Center of the Ozarks in Springfield, Mo specializing in stroke and brain injury rehabilitation.
