NINE DAYS OF HOPE FOR THE FUTURE:

A NOVENA FROM THE FEAST OF THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE

LORD THROUGH THE VIGIL OF THE ASSUMPTION OF

THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

AUGUST 6-14, 2019

In solidarity with those who suffer from the continuous effects of abuse, the

archdiocese sets the nine days from the Transfiguration of the Lord to the

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a novena for healing from abuse.

A PRAYER FOR HEALING VICTIMS OF ABUSE

God of endless love, ever caring, ever strong, always present, always just: You gave your only Son to save us by his blood on the cross.

Gentle Jesus, shepherd of peace, join to your own suffering the pain of all who have been hurt in body, mind, and spirit by those who betrayed the trust placed in them.

Hear the cries of our brothers and sisters who have been gravely harmed, and the cries of those who love them. Soothe their restless hearts with hope, steady their shaken spirits with faith.

Grant them justice for their cause, enlightened by your truth. Holy Spirit, comforter of hearts, heal your people’s wounds and transform brokenness into wholeness.

Grant us the courage and wisdom, humility and grace, to act with justice. Breathe wisdom into our prayers and labors. Grant that all harmed by abuse may find peace in justice. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Any way you can help us in supporting our Parish Family Feast will be

greatly appreciated. There are several ways that you can support our feast.

You can bring the cooked food the day of the feast or food that is uncooked

the week before the feast. You can also help with a monetary donation so

RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

New Classes forming in St. John Chrysostom Parish for Fall 2020 RCIA is a

process for adults who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith

leading to becoming a member of the Catholic Church. Baptized Catholics who

have not yet received the sacraments of Holy Eucharist and /or Confirmation are

welcome to complete their preparation for the sacraments of initiation through

participation in the RCIA process.

The sacraments will be administered at the

Easter Vigil which is on April 11, 2020.

If you are interested in becoming a Catholic or completing your sacraments of

initiation please contact Fr. Richard Marrano or call the rectory at

718-542-6164 or pass by the rectory for an appointment.

Classes are available in Spanish and English.

The Fee Is $50 Per Person or $75 Per Couple

RICA: Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos

Estamos en el proceso de formación de clases para el Otoño 2020. RICA es un

proceso para adultos que están interesados en aprender más acerca de la fe

católica para llegar a ser miembro de la Iglesia Católica. Católicos bautizados

que no han recibido los sacramentos de Primera Comunión y La Confirmación

están invitados a competer su preparación para los sacramentos de Iniciación a

través del proceso de RICA.

Los sacramentos serán administrados durante la

Vigilia Pascual el 11 de abril 2020.
