Saint Augustine is one of the oldest African American parishes in the United States,
located in the historic West Louisville in the Archdiocese since 1870. We are a spirit
filled, welcoming faith community that prides itself in sharing the good news with

Almighty God, take from me all vainglorious atti-tudes, all appetites of my own praise, all envy, cov-etousness, gluttony, sloth and lechery, all wrathful affections, all appetite for revenge, all desire or de-light of other folks’ harm, all pleasure in provoking any person to wrath and anger. You ask but do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions." James 4:2-3 St. James warns each one of us against the dangers of materialism. In fighting the materialism in our cul-ture, I must ask myself not only, "What do I own?" But more importantly, "What owns me?" What is the one thing I possess that I could not live without? This is what owns me.

The 33rd Annual African Ameri-can Catholic Day of Reflection has been postponed until Saturday, 11/3/18 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Catholic Enrichment Center. Ex-tended grant deadline is 9/29/18. Green Pickin' Time - Come join the team this Tuesday all day begin-ning at 10 a.m. No pickin' on Wednesday. Also, a special fish fry (Fall Loaves and Fishes) will be held on Friday, October 19th.
