Prayers for the ChurchAnglican Church in North America: Bishop Alberto Morales and the clergy, religious, and people of the Diocese of Quincy, one of the 20 dioceses in the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).In 1877, the Diocese of Illinois was divided into three dioceses: Quincy and Springfield (both named after the see cities), with the remainder continuing as the Diocese of Illinois. (Of note, the first bishop of the Diocese of Illinois, Philander Chase, had been the first bishop of the Diocese of Ohio.) The Diocese of Illinois was later renamed the Diocese of Chicago. In 2008, the Diocesan Synod voted to move within the Anglican Communion from The Episcopal Church to the Province of the Southern Cone of the Americas (in South America). The move was temporary, until the ACNA was formed in 2009 and the diocese became a member diocese of the ACNA. A few parishes later voted to remain within The Episcopal Church. The current bishop was born in Puerto Rico. After seminary in the Caribbean and Spain, he was ordained to the priesthood and later established the ecumenical St. Benedict’s Abbey. Fr. Morales and the abbey were invited by the then bishop of Quincy, Keith Ackerman, to relocate to Illinois and did so in 1996. In 2010, the Diocesan Synod elected Fr. Morales as the next bishop. He remains very committed to evangelism, and the diocese is reported to have doubled in size during the first three years of his episcopate. The diocese has a companion relationship with the Province of Myanmar (Burma) and has a congregation of ethnic Karen refugees from Myanmar, shepherded by the first Karen priest in the ACNA.The diocese now has 34 parishes, most in Illinois but with some in Colorado, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin. (Sources: Diocesan website and Wikipedia.)Please pray especially for ongoing evangelism.Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes: Fr. Lee Martin, Deacon Barbara Fischer, and the people of Christ the King, Columbiana, Ohio; and Fr. John Harris OSM, and the people of St. Francis of Assisi, Youngstown, Ohio.Parish Cycle of Prayer: Bob DeMooy; Emelie Deslauriers; our Upper Elementary Godly Play class; and our Bell Choir.

Encouragement for your prayer time with GodIf you deeply let Jesus in, he’ll explain that verse you have trouble understanding, give you a new perspective on healing, and show you how to love more fully. “This is what the Lord says: ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.’ “ (Jeremiah 6:16) “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17) — St. Andrew’s Prayer Ministries Team

Tuckers welcome a boy!Congratulations to Fr. Shane and Christy Tucker on the birth of their son, Liam, this past Monday! And congratulations to big sisters Neve and Keely, and big brother Aiden! Fr. Shane shared the following with the parish by email this past week:

Hello Church Family!

It’s with gratitude and great joy that Christy and I would like to announce the arrival of Liam McMurray Tucker!

Liam (pronounced “Lee-um”) joined our family on Monday, February 26th at 9:27am after Christy labored close to 12 hours. When he arrived he was 9lbs. 10oz. and 22 inches long. When Liam entered the world, we were pleased to see that he had quite a bit of hair! Both he and Christy are doing very, very well.

“Liam” is the Gaelic, or Irish, version of William and his name means “Strong-willed warrior and protector.” His middle name, ‘’McMurray,” was my mother’s maiden name, meaning “Son of Murray,” of the Clan Murray — one of the four main Clans of Scotland.

Thanks to each one of you for your inquiries, prayers and well wishes. We look forward to introducing you to Liam in the near future. If you’d like to drop by and say hello, please feel free to get in touch with Christy at [email protected].

Much love to you all and thank you again for your prayers. God is good!

Fr. Shane

Parish receives gift from estate of Corkeè MillerThe parish was blessed this past week to receive a $1,500 bequest from the estate of Corkeè Miller. Corkeè, who died last November, was a member of our parish family for more than a decade and a half. She attended the 8 a.m. Sunday service for many years and most recently attended the 5 p.m. Saturday service, although she sometimes worshiped at the 9 a.m. Sunday service.

We appreciate Corkeè’s generosity in remembering us in her will. Such a bequest is a great way for all of us to be able to continue to help the church do Christ’s work here on earth, even from Heaven.

Mite box collection to benefit police familiesThis year as part of our Lenten almsgiving we’ll be collecting monies to benefit the families of Officer Anthony “Tony” Morelli and Officer Eric Joering, the two Westerville police officers who were killed in the line of duty in February. If you wish to contribute to this effort you may put your offering in one of the mite boxes available at the Information Desk, in one of the envelopes in the chair pockets (please mark the envelope “Police Fund”), or make a check payable to St. Andrew’s with “Police Fund” in the memo section.
