Bulletin Quote ~ We are such value to God that he came to live among us … and to guide us home. He will go to any length to seek us, even to being lifted high upon the cross to draw us back to himself. We can only respond by loving God for his love. - St. Catherine of Siena, (1347-1380), Patron of miscarriages, Feast Day May 1
Stewardship Reflection:3rd Sunday of Easter “Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked to us on the road, while He opened to us the scriptures?” LUKE 24:32 How often do we take the time to discern what Jesus wants from us? Are our prayers always petitions, asking Jesus to do things for us? If so, that’s a one-sided relationship. Living our faith means developing a personal relationship with Jesus. Just like any friendship, there is give and take, each side listening to each other and helping each other out. Take time in silence to listen to what Jesus is asking of you.
April 26, 2020 Dear Parishioners, As we celebrate the season of Resurrection in a time of quarantine, perhaps there will be a message of hope for all of us in these words:
And The People Stayed Home And the people stayed home. And read
books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and taught their children, and made art, and played games and learned new ways of being, and were still! And listened more deeply. Some meditated,
some prayed and some danced. Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And, in
the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous and heartless ways,
The earth began to heal. And when the danger passed, and the
people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and to heal the earth fully,
As they had been healed. (Kitty O’Meara)
Stay safe and well, Sister Eleanor
Father Tom Blind Father Tom has requested, and been granted by the Cardinal, medical retirement effective May 1, 2020. He will reside in the Msgr. Kelley Residence for Retired Priests next to the school and will continue to help us with Masses. We are so grateful to Father Tom for his priestly service to our community and are happy that he will remain on our "campus" and that we will continue to see him on a regular basis. Please keep him in your prayers during this time of transition. Due to both budget issues and a shortage of priests available, we will not be having a priest coming to replace Fr. Tom as a parochial vicar.
DO YOU HAVE FIVE MINUTES A DAY?
DO YOU WORRY ABOUT OUR WORLD TODAY?
We would like to invite you to become part of the LIVING ROSARY. This activity was started at Saint Aloysius Parish a number of years ago as a means of joining our prayers together to pray for peace in our country and for all our special intentions. It is also in response to people’s needs for greater spiritual growth. At this time we have several teams of 5 members each participating in our living rosary. It is a power house of prayer!
This activity may be taken on by anyone. Families can participate, the home bound can become part of the Living Rosary; persons on their way to work can join also. There are no meetings to attend.
What is necessary to become part of the Living Rosary is a commitment to say one decade of the Rosary each day. You then become a member of a team who together says the entire rosary each day. It is said for the intentions of those members comprising the Living Rosary and for the specific and special intentions of our parish. It can be done at home, in the car, on the train, and any time of your day.
The Rosary has been used for centuries for world peace, against the heresy of the times, during the Nazi occupation of Poland and at many other times. This is a simple devotion, parish oriented, that demands little of its members and produces great spiritual results.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the LIVING ROSARY. Please complete below and drop at rectory or call Dee Taylor 973-226-0209 x 32. We will then contact you to coordinate the groups and mysteries of the Rosary.
I am interested in becoming a member of the Living Rosary:

Go Fund Me Page For Parish Support Our Parish very much needs your continued financial support during these challenging times. We encourage you to mail or drop your weekly offerings in the rectory mail slot. This is also a good time to sign up for Electronic Parish Giving if you are not already using it. In addition, at the request of Cardinal Tobin, we have set up a parish Go Fund Me Page. The links for Electronic Giving and our Go Fund Me Page can be found on our parish web site at: www.stalscaldwell.org Thank you for your continued support!
THINK GREEN
Possible Green Actions during these unprecedented days:
Make a plan for your garden. Even if it’s just some pots on your porch or windowsill, think about what vegetables and flowers you would like to grow this season and determine when you will plant them.
Think about the person who has most shaped your attitudes, feelings, and values about nature and environmental concerns. Contact that person and thank them. If the person is no longer living, honor their memory by telling someone about them.
Visit our Parish website and view the Mattison Family – Connie, Greg, Ian and Karen. “How to Celebrate Earth Day in your Domestic Church”
aamazonsmile When you shop at smile.amazon.com/ch/22-1512267, AmazonSmile donates to St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church.
You shop. Amazon gives. Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice. AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same prices, same service. Support your charitable organization by starting your shopping at smile.amazon.com
Do you plan to use Amazon to shop online? AmazonSmile is a program that donates 0.5% of your purchases to a charity of your choice. Why not choose your parish of St. Aloysius? Simply go to http://smile.amazon.com/, search for “St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church”, (caldwell) and choose our name. It’s a one-time setup that applies to all eligible future purchases with no additional cost to you! You may think that 0.5% doesn’t sound like much but if hundreds of shoppers in the parish sign up, donations will add up quickly! If you’re shopping anyway, this is just one more way to keep your parish in mind during this charitable season and all year long. Thank you in advance for your support!
April 26, 2020 In Need - Please Help if you Can
On behalf of the Residents of St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly and the Little Sisters of the Poor, we humbly request assistance from our good friends in collecting the food items that we are in great need of. Due to the current health crisis our collecting Sisters are unable to go out on their regular rounds obtaining these supplies for us. They are also not able to hold their monthly grocery store begging where most of these items would be donated.
Items in need & instructions for drop off of donations: Tissues, paper plates, cups, napkins, Cheerios, Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, Raisin Bran, Bran Flakes, Special K, Oatmeal (no instant, old fashioned only), Sugar, Tomato Sauce, Tuna Fish, Peanut Butter. Yellow Mustard, Ketchup, Mayonnaise (in squeeze bottles works best for us). Snack Pack Puddings, Jell-O Cups, Apple Sauce Cups, Fruit Cups. St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly, 140 Shepherd Lane, Totowa, 07512. All donations can be dropped off at the Shepherd Lane back entrance Tues. – Thurs. between 9:00am - 12:00pm & 2:00pm – 5:00pm after which the gate will be closed. There will be a table in the open middle garage for donations as well as paper for you to leave your name and information for an acknowledgement if you need one. We understand that the need is great in so many places in our area but we would appreciate anything that you could do for us. Monetary donations can be made on our website: www.littlesistersofthepoortotowa.org. Please know that we are keeping all of our good friends and benefactors, who are so devoted to our Residents and our Home all year long, in our daily prayers. We especially pray that everyone remain safe and healthy. Gratefully yours, Sr. Mary Thomas, l.s.p. Superior The Little Sisters of the Poor
