For the past nine months SEEL retreatants and their spiritual directors have journeyed with St. Ignatius practicing the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life (SEEL).

The retreat is ending in one sense. In another, it will continue in the way it has changed our lives. Unlike a retreat in a retreat house, we didn’t retreat from everyday life. We will continue to go through our days naming our desires before God; choosing patterns to make habits about how we choose to be free to answer God’s call to follow Him always.

May all that I am today, all that I try to do today, may all my encounters, reflections, even the frustrations and failings, all place my life in your hands. Lord, my life is in your hands. Please let this day give you praise. The grace we ask for is simple: that our Lord would guide us in choosing how we will live our lives more with Jesus. Amen. - Creighton Univ. Daily Reflections

A Prayer of Solidarity from the US Bishops Conference

For all who have contracted coronavirus, we pray for care and healing. For those who are particularly vulnerable, we pray for safety and protection. For all who experience fear or anxiety, we pray for peace of mind and spirit. For affected families who are facing difficult decisions between food on the table or public safety, we pray for policies that recognize their plight. For those who do not have adequate health insurance, we pray that no family will face financial burdens alone. For those who are afraid to access care due to immigration status, we pray for recognition of the God-given dignity of all. For our brothers and sisters around the world, we pray for shared solidarity. For public officials and decisionmakers, we pray for wisdom and guidance. Father, during this time may your Church be a sign of hope, comfort and love to all. Grant peace. Grant comfort. Grant healing. Be with us, Lord. Amen.

Prayer/Reflection

Jesus, help us to see your face in the eyes of every homeless person we meet.

Empower us to work for justice and peace through words and deeds, and

through the political means we have.

Give us open hearts to greet and meet the homeless people in our neighborhoods.

In your name we pray. Amen.

Aryan Magandia

Homelessness in Spokane Homelessness is a reality in Spokane. As in other communities, the causes of homelessness are many: lack of affordable housing and good paying jobs, domestic violence, health care expenses, poverty, mental illness, substance abuse. Many people and agencies are addressing local homelessness.

Here are some excellent resources.

1. Catholic Charities. “Hard Questions and Im-portant Answers about Chronic Street Homelessness in Downtown Spokane.” A booklet focused on issues and possible solutions. (cceasternwa.org/answers)

2. “My Road Leads Home” is a documentary project on homelessness in Spokane by Rising River Media. Maurice Smith is the Executive Director and Producer of the project. His two documentaries are available on YouTube at www.myroadleadshome.org *** The Spokane Homeless Connect. (60 minutes)

*** The Hidden Homeless: Families Experiencing Homelessness. (30 Minutes)

Maurice Smith has also authored “30 Days and 30 Ways of Doing Good,” a book with practical steps to get involved, make a difference, and engage in kindness and good deeds toward those in need in Spokane, including the homeless population.

3. KSPS Public Television produced the documentary “Hidden in Plain Sight: Fighting Homelessness in Spokane.” Visit www.KSPS.org/documentaries. (60 minutes)

If COVID-19 allows, Parish Social Ministry will offer:

Monday, November 16. 6:00-8:00 PM.
