SCHOOL OFFICE

Dear Friends~

Let the fun begin! Today we open our festivities for Catholic Schools Week with Mass. Catholic schools across the nation will cel-ebrate all that Catholic schools have to offer. Our theme: Catholic Schools—communities of faith, knowledge and service, continues for the third year. We have a full week of activities planned, so check our website if you would like to join us.

There are many reasons our families choose St. Agnes for their children, first and foremost is our strong Catholic identity. The second reason given by our parents is the strong sense of community. The old saying “it takes a village to raise a child” is present every day. We pray for one another each morning and afternoon as a whole school, parents provide meals for one another when an illness or death occurs, on a daily basis families carpool to school, and practic-es and play dates are arranged often!

The most important aspect of a Catholic school, however, is the opportunity we have each day to pray, worship and discuss our faith openly. Each month a different class plans the school liturgies and prayer services; these students are composed, confident and have no problem speaking in front of the children and families assembled. Our various service-learning projects help our students learn to care for others both locally and globally. During this Year of Mercy we can focus more deeply on these projects. We are also focusing on treating others as well as ourselves with dignity and respect. We are a safe place for children to learn and grow spiritually as well as aca-demically.

Those of us currently involved with St. Agnes School are in-debted to you, the parishioners who had the foresight to initially build this community. We also are mindful of those current parish-ioners who support us financially, attend our events and liturgies, and who also include us in their prayers. Thank you! We will continue to build on what you started and strive to give each child a strong edu-cation steeped in our Catholic teachings. Mark your calendars now for 2017-2018 when we will celebrate our 50th Jubilee! Blessings, Jill Lucia

Sunday Collection for January 23: $10,003.00 We thank you for your Stewardship.
