Amazing Grace Gracia sublime

After apartheid was abolished in South Africa, special hearings were held to allow victims a voice, and to establish justice and peace. One day an elderly black woman and a white police officer faced each other across a courtroom. The officer, a Mr. van der Broek, had just been found guilty of murdering the woman’s son and her husband. He had come to her home a number of years earlier, shot her son, and burned the body while he and his cronies reveled in the act. Later, he returned and took her husband. For two years, she heard nothing about him. Then van der Broek came and led the woman to a river bank, where she saw her husband bound and beaten on a pile of wood. The last words she heard him say were, “Father, forgive them,” as the officers poured gasoline over him and set him on fire. Justice caught up with Mr. van der Broek. He was found guilty, and it was now time for sentencing. The judge asked the woman, “What should be done to this man who so brutally destroyed your family?” She replied, “I want three things. First, I want to be taken to where my husband’s body was burned so that I can gather up the dust and give him decent burial. My husband and son were my only family, so I want, second, for Mr. van der Broek to become my son. I would like him to come twice a month to the ghetto and spend a day with me so that I can pour on him whatever love I still have within me. Third,” she said, “I would like Mr. van der Broek to know that I forgive him because Jesus Christ died to forgive me.” She walked across the courtroom and embraced him. The policeman fainted, overwhelmed by her response. Then quietly, friends, family, and neighbors—all victims of similar oppression and injustice—began to sing, “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound.” Copyright © World Library Publications. Hermanos en la fe: ¡No estamos fracasando, estamos mas que victoriosos!

Hay momentos en la vida que nos deparan decisiones imprevistas pero a la vez conscientes y todo por el bien de quienes y a quienes servimos. La Iglesia Católica, política y culturalmente hablando, es una de las naciones mas grandes del mundo y por su impacto e importancia espiritual es la única responsable de ver con ojos bien abiertos y con conciencia recta y clara a la luz del Evangelio los retos, las decisiones y las acciones a tomar. En esto esta basada la decisión del Santo Padre (hoy llamado Papa emérito) quien—como dijera el mismo en su ultimo discurso desde la Sede Petrina, no abandona la Iglesia, por el contrario, es tanto su amor por ella, y tan consciente de las enormes responsabilidades que en un acto de sublime y profunda humildad para la gloria de Dios y el bien de la misma Iglesia, reconoce que físicamente no se siente capaz, se siente enfermo y acabado. Espiritualmente tan fuerte, potente y fortalecido estaba para tomar tan grande decisión. Ningún Jefe de Estado querrá abandonar tan importante puesto de privilegio y poder, solo por capricho. Bien si por el bien de quien el presenta, dirige y guía.

Unámonos en oración para que el nuevo Pontífice de la Iglesia universal tenga tanta fuerza, tanto tino y tanto amor como cada Papa en su propio momento histórico, para que nuestra Iglesia cuyo jefe máximo es el mismo Cristo, siga llevando con altura y dignidad el timón que recibió Pedro hace mas de 2000 años. Recuerden las palabras del Fundador: “Pedro a ti te daré las llaves del reino y las puertas del infierno no podrán contra ella”.

Hermanos no hay duda, la nuestra, es la autentica, es la Iglesia de Cristo. El caso de Benedicto, es un caso de salud física como sucede y puede sucederle a cualquier falible terrenal por mas importante que sea sobre la faz de la tierra. Como dice el dicho popular: “los médicos también mueren”. El Papa Benedicto (Joseph Ratzingher) también se enferma y también se acaba, como todos los demás seres humanos, vivientes y mortales, pero eso no lo hace perdedor no a él ni a la iglesia.

Inmensa gloria en el Cielo por tan sublime labor en la Iglesia, así lo reconoce la Iglesia misma e incluso hombres, que no solo son de la Iglesia, sino que no son creyentes, como por ejemplo nuestro premio nobel latinoamericano: Mario Vargas Llosa, el premio Nobel de Literatura que se declara agnóstico y ferozmente opuesto a las enseñanzas morales de la Iglesia, quien ha escrito una columna sindicada para el mundo hispano hablante en la que elogia la talla espiritual e intelectual de Benedicto XVI y señala que su partida “es una perdida para el mundo de la cultura y del espíritu” - escribe Vargas Llosa en la columna sindicada por el diario español.

El premio Nobel señala luego que a Benedicto XVI “le ha tocado uno de los periodos mas difíciles que ha enfrentado el cristianismo en sus mas de dos mil años de historia. La secularización de la sociedad avanza a gran velocidad, sobre todo en Occidente, ciudadela de la Iglesia hasta hace relativamente pocos decenios” afirma Vargas Llosa.

Es triste que el mundo de los creyentes, vivan los mas apáticos, y a veces los que mas ignoran de la gran calidad de nuestra Iglesia. Es el precio que pagamos por la ignorancia que muchas veces nosotros mismos propiciamos. Pero no perdamos el norte de nuestro mensaje, oremos por el nuevo sucesor de Pedro y por nuestra Iglesia como nos lo ha pedido, nuestro Pastor, el Cardenal George. Unidos en oración para que nuestra Iglesia sea Una, Santa, Católica y Apostólica.
