3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION &

BENEFITS

SS-1H Asphalt Binder is an anionicasphalt emulsion designed for useas a tack coat for patching,paving, and coating processes.SS-1H Asphalt Binder promotesadhesion of bituminous concreteproducts and coatings. SS-1HAsphalt Binder also meets the ISSArequirements for SS-1H.

Basic Uses: SS-1H Asphalt Binder isdesigned as an adhesion promoterfor patching, paving, and coatings.

Composition: SS-1H Asphalt Binderis comprised of asphalt, water,emulsifiers, and surfactants.

Sizes: Available in bulk, 55-gallondrums, and 5-gallon pails.

Color: Dries Black.

Limitations: SS-1H Asphalt Binder

shall not be applied whentemperature is expected to dropbelow 60F within a 24 hour periodafter application.

4. TECHNICAL DATA

SS-1H Asphalt Binder meets thechemical composit ion andperformance requirements of ASTMD977 and AASHTO M140, and theISSA requirements for SS-1H.

Environmental Considerations:SS-1H Asphalt B inder is anenvironmentally friendly water

based asphalt emulsion containingless than 150 grams per liter volatileorganic content (VOC).

Physical/Chemical Properties:SS-1H Asphalt Binder meets thefollowing specifications whentested in accordance with ASTMD140 and ASTM D244 tes tprocedures (see chart below).

5. INSTALLATION

Surface must be cleaned of dust,dirt and debris.

Methods: SS-1H Asphalt Binder canbe applied by spray, brush, orsqueegee.

Mixing Procedures: Primer For Coatings: For use as aprimer for coatings (such as asphalt,coal tar, or acrylic pavementsealers) dilute SS-1H Asphalt Binderwith water as follows (based on 10gallons for ease of calculation):

NOTE - DO NOT USE SS-1H AsphaltBinder at full strength as a primerfor coatings. It must be diluted withwater in accordance with above

mixing instructions.

Application:Apply properly mixedSS-1H Asphalt Binder (Asphalt

B inder, Water) wi th sprayequipment, brush, or squeegee.Stir material thoroughly beforeapplying.

IMPORTANT: Apply coatings,patching materials, or pavingmaterials as soon as possible afterSS-1H Asphalt Binder dries (within24 hours) in order to maintaintackifying properties.

Application Rate for Diluted AsphaltBinder: For Use As A Primer For Coatings:Apply properly diluted SS-1H AsphaltBinder (1 part SS-1H Asphalt Binder,8 parts water) at a rate of .07 - .10

gallon per square yard (90-130square feet per gallon).

For Use As A Tack Coat ForPatching Or Paving:Apply properly diluted SS-1H AsphaltBinder (1 part SS-1H Asphalt Binder,1 part water) at a rate of .07 - .10gallon of mix per square yard (90-130 square feet per gallon of mix).

Estimating Material Requirements:To estimate gallons of SS-1H AsphaltBinder required to cover a specific

area, use the following coveragerates:

For Use As A Primer For Coatings:One gallon of SS-1H Asphalt Binderwill cover approximately 800-1,170square feet (89-130 square yards)when diluted properly (1 part SS-1HAsphalt Binder, 8 parts water).

Precautions: Both surface andambient temperature shall be aminimum of 60F. Temperature shallnot drop below 60F in a 24 hourperiod following application. KeepOut Of Reach Of Children. Do notstore unopened containers in

freezing temperatures.
