II-SEMESTER (5 Teaching Hours of Per Week)

Course Code: BBA. Core 2.3: MANAGERIAL DECISION PROCESS

Objective: To Provide fundamentals of Decision making by managers in economic scenario and

analyze and apply various concepts in practical business situations for business making.

Pedagogy: Combination of classroom lectures, seminars, presentations, group discussion, case

studies, filed studies, industrial visits and soft skills.

Unit l: Managerial economics - Definition, nature and scope. Role and responsibilities of a

managerial economist Relationship to economic theory, decision sciences, statistics, accounting and

functional areas of business. (16 Hrs)

Unit 2: Theory of the firm - objectives, alternative objectives, and value of the firm. Constraints

to the operation of the firm, limitations of the theory of the firm, the nature and functions of profits,

business sources of economic profits, theory and functions of profits. Economic forecasting. The

virtual corporation. Competition in the age of liberalization, privatization and globalization. (18 Hrs)

Unit 3: Individual Demand V/s. Market Demand – Elasticity, price elasticity of demand, and

income elasticity of demand and Simple problem there on. (14 Hrs)

Unit 4: Cost Analysis - Meaning, Definition and types of costs. Short term and long term costs.

Cost curves, cost of production. (16 Hrs)

Unit 5: Pricing - Importance of pricing, Pricing and profit analysis, pricing under perfect

competition, monopoly, monopolistic competition and oligopoly. Different pricing strategies. Price

discrimination and simple problem there on. (16 Hrs)

development activities with reference to the above syllabus and documented in a Record Book / Blue

Book / Assignment and submitted to the college at the end of the semester for evaluation.

Course Code: BBA. Core 2.4: FUNDAMENTALS OF MARKETING

Objective: The objective in to enable to understand the concept of marketing and its applications

and the recent trade in marketing.

Pedagogy: Combination of classroom lectures, seminars, presentations, group discussion, case

studies, filed studies, industrial visits and soft skills.

Unit 1: The Nature & Scope of marketing - Definition, Marketing, Markets and Marketing

function of marketing (14 Hrs)

Unit 2: Marketing Mix - Meaning –Elements-Product- Product Mix- Product Line – Product

Lifecycle- Product Planning New Product Development – Failure of new product- Branding-

Packing and packaging. (16 Hrs)

Unit 3: Pricing: Objectives - factors influencing pricing and methods of pricing, setting the price,

pricing process, pricing methods. Adapting price: Geographical pricing, price discounts and

allowances, promotional pricing, discriminatory pricing, product mix pricing. (20 Hrs)

Unit 4: Physical Distribution - Meaning factors affecting channel selection – Types of Marketing

Channels. Promotion and significance of promotion – personal selling & Advertising

(14 Hrs)

Unit 5: Market Segmentation - Identifying market segments selecting, target market and

developing market positions. Basis for market segmentation for consumer and industrial market

positions, basis for market segmentation for consumer and industrial market and requirement of

effective segments. Understanding the customer behavior. Factors affecting consumer behavior.

(16 Hrs)

for better management of people in organizations.

Unit 1: Basic Concepts of human resource management – Meaning, objectives and importance of

HRM – Functions of HRM- Managerial Functions- Operative functions-nature and scope of HRM-

HR Manager: Role, Qualification and qualities. Recent trends in HRM. (12 Hrs)

Unit 2: Human Resource Planning – Meaning and objectives and Importance of Human Resource

planning –Benefits of Human Resource Planning. Human Resource Planning Process, Human

Resource Information system, Barriers of HRP. (16 Hrs)

Unit-3: Job-analysis – Meaning of job analysis- job description – job specification, job evaluation-

uses of job analysis, process of job Analysis- methods of data collection, concept of job Design,

factors affecting job design. Techniques of job Analysis- work Simplification, job rotation, job

enrichment, job Enlargement-ways to enrich job Enlargement ways to enrich job. (16 Hrs)

Unit-4: Recruitment and Selection - Sources of recruitment, selection process, methods of

selection, types of tests and interviews. Factors affecting recruitment – internal and external sources

of recruitment, Recruitment practices in India an overview- methods of Recruitment-direct, indirect

and third party method. Placement and Induction. (18 Hrs)

Unit-5: Training and Development – Meaning, need and methods of training and development.

Promotion- meaning, need and types of promotion. (18 Hrs)

Objectives: To enable the students to understand the various aspects relating to principles of

accounting and managerial accounting practices.

Pedagogy: Combination of classroom lectures, seminars, presentations, group discussion, case

studies, filed studies, industrial visits and soft skills.

Unit 1: Royalty Accounts: Introduction, meaning, Royalty, Land-Lord, Tenant, Minimum rent,

Short-working. Recoupment of short working, methods of recoupment of short working, accounting

treatment in the books of Lessee only. (Excluding sub- lease). (18 Hrs)

Unit 2: Departmental Accounting – Meaning, objectives, basis for allocation of expenses, Inter

Departmental transfers at cost or selling price and problems there on. (18 Hrs)

Unit 3: Branch Accounting – Meaning, objectives, Types, Accounting treatment- Debtors system,

Stock and Debtors System, Distinction between Whole sale profit and Retail Profit, Accounting

Treatment on dependent branches ( Excluding foreign Branches) (18 Hrs)

Unit 4: Joint Venture Accounts - Meaning, Nature, Objectives, Advantages, Differences between

joint venture and consignment and methods of recording joint venture transactions and problems

there on. (18 Hrs)

Unit 5: Human Resource Accounting - Meaning, Definition, Objectives, Methods, Advantages

and Dis Advantages of Human Resource Accounting. (08 Hrs)
