CAMPUS EXCHANGE PROGRAMThe learning in SRM University Sikkim, has crossed its state boundary through Campus-Exchange Program to SRM University, Kattankulathur, Chennai. The �nal year students are taken to the parent campus for a month to experience the across-the-board exposure to academics, industries, skills, career and culture.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT & GUEST LECTURESStudents are given exposure to the subjects through various Industrial Visits to the reputed industrial sectors. Also, to learn from the experience of the experts, various guest lectures are conducted in order to add on to their learning.

REFERENCE CENTRE A comfortable knowledge house with a healthy repository of books and reputed academic journals including E-journals, to empower the students and the teaching fraternity with broad and deeper understanding of the subject is available in the campus. Hence the higher education institutions have a major responsibility in understanding the needs of our society and provide the necessary platform in producing the right kind of human resources to propel our economy to the next level of competitiveness and engagement. SRM University, Sikkim, being a nascent university has the advantage of adapting itself to the requirements of our industries and commercial establishments.

Management education in India has undergone a series of metamorphosis-from an elitist approach to an open source, project oriented pedagogy targeting speci�c areas of operation. This has resulted in profuse adoption of technology and the student passing out today would be industry-ready than what a student would have been a decade back. In SRM University, Sikkim the curriculum and syllabus have been framed in such a manner that a student of Management would be inclined to pursue his or her studies in an atmosphere of freedom and liberal exposure to knowledge acquisition.Commerce education has its application in multifarious �elds. Bachelor of Commerce / B.Com, HonoursThe B.Com (Hons) program caters to the commerce aspirants by adequately equipping them with sound domain knowledge and skills in almost all the areas of business required for a successful career in commerce. The innovative curriculum design and content empowers student to constantly adapt to the ever changing business environment, enabling them to meet the expectation of the business and to handle basic business tasks, thus equipping a student to pursue careers in different sectors of commerce, trade and industry.

Core Skills: 1. Combine theory and practice in order to teach the students about how businesses operate. 2. Enable the students to gain the analytical, technical and practical skills to apply their knowledge effectively to the business world. 3. Acquire sound fundamental knowledge on Accounting, Economics, Taxation, Statistics, Auditing and Finance in addition to various management subjects. 4. Note- For the students who do not opt for Honours, they will be provided with B.Com General degree.

2. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) SRM University, Sikkim initiated the Bachelor of Business Administration program under the Management department in the year 2014. The program aims at creating and developing competent management leaders, senior administrators and executives in the industry pro�cient with the necessary managerial, interpersonal, technical and business skills. The program is designed to provide the students with fundamental knowledge in managing and administering businesses and other related types of institutions. Currently the BBA program consists of 105 students with a faculty strength of 10 full time faculty members and a number of visiting faculty for specialized courses. Unique to the BBA program are case studies aimed at inculcating analytical, problem solving, team building and research skills among the students.

Core Skills: 1. Demonstrate competency in the underlying concepts, theory and tools taught in the core undergraduate curriculum. 2. Inculcate life skills related to problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and research skills. 3. POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMS3. Master of Commerce (M.Com) The Master of Commerce program offered by SRM University, Sikkim provides an advanced level understanding of various functional areas such as Finance, Marketing, Operations and Human Resource Management. The syllabus offers a balance between theory and practice and takes care of the requirement of the industry as well as the academia.The successful completion of this program opens up an ocean of opportunities into multiple spectrums and �elds, be it government or private sector. It not just gives a chance to pursue a rewarding career in teaching and research; it also facilitates opportunities in professional areas of accounting and �nance such as taxation, consultancy and �nancial services.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)MBA – the two year full time programme offered by the Management & Commerce Department is designed with the objective of developing our students into highly skilled managers, ready to undertake the administrative, managerial and entrepreneurial challenges of the industry and the emerging service sector. The programme is characterised by a unique mix of core management courses and specialised electives in Finance,

Marketing, HR and Operations. The curriculum of the MBA is designed in a manner so as to impart experiential learning amongst the students. This is facilitated by the multiple occasions of Industry interface through Guest Lectures, Industrial visits, Project work and Internships, wherein the students are encouraged to test their classroom learning in real world scenarios, thereby getting a more holistic experience in their academic pursuit.The �rst year of the course introduces core management models and tools with an emphasis on involving the students in learning and helping them to relate concepts and theories to business realities. The year concludes with the students undertaking a Summer Internship programme which allows students to explore practical application of the management concepts.The second year of the course sees the students form their interests based on their Summer Internship as well as their �rst year experiences, and choose from the wide range of electives on offer from the MBA Curriculum. The curriculum is revised on an ongoing basis through discussions with practising managers from the industry. This is done to re�ect current business needs in the curriculum.

The program also offers placement assistance to the students and a dedicated placement team works throughout the year to link the students to their prospective employers.

The School of Language, Literature and Culture is an interdisciplinary school that offers multiple courses from the domain if language, literature and cultural studies. Note- Students pursuing the Bachelor of Vocational courses are allowed to exit the course in two phases. i. Exit after First Year In such a case, student will be provided with a Diploma Degree. ii. Exit after Second year In such case, student will be provided with Advance Diploma degree.Students completing three years of the course will be given Bachelors in Vocational Degree.1. B.Voc (Software Development)The B.Voc. Programme is focused in providing undergraduate studies which also incorporate speci�c job roles. This would enable the graduates completing B.Voc to make a meaningful participation in gaining appropriate employment or in becoming entrepreneurs.

The objectives of these courses are: 1. Handle end-to-end lifecycle of various types of software projects by performing processes such as requirement gathering, modelling, quality assurance, software engineering management and re-engineering activities. 2. To provide judicious mix of skills relating to a profession and appropriate content of General Education. 3. Adequate knowledge and skills, so that they are work ready at each exit point of the programme. 4. To provide �exibility to the students by means of pre-de�ned entry and multiple exit points. B.Voc (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)The pharmaceutical industry is one of the important components of the health care service in the world, wherein a lot of private and government �rms lay their hands on discovering, developing, manufacturing and marketing medicines. Drug (medicine) manufacturing is one of the sections in this industry which deals with series of unit operation such as powder blending, milling, granulation, coating, tablet pressing and others. With the coming up of many pharmaceutical units in Sikkim, this course envisions to train the young blood for the right trade and making them employable in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing industries.

Fee Concession On the prescribed Annual Fee 15% fee concession to Sikkim native and 25% fee concession to HRDD students which is 20% of the total seat, will be provided.

Cancellation of Admission and Refund of Fees: • If the admission committee is convinced that a certain candidate was has been wrongly admitted , the admission shall be cancelled by the Chairman, admission committee. In such event the fee shall be refunded • If a candidate informs the Registrar about his withdrawal from the programme in writing before the �rst day of the commencement of the �rst semester, tuition fee shall be refunded after deducting INR 1,000/- as processing fee • If a candidate withdraws from the program after �rst day of the commencement of �rst semester, no refund shall be made, except security deposit • Security deposit Refundable, will be refunded after 15 days from the date of application

General Information

College UniformCollege Uniform is compulsory and students have to bear the chargers for the same. Information regarding the stitching of the uniform will be provided by the University.

Scholarships Scheme: Founder’s Scholarship: 100% for School topper and 50% for second School topper in any of the courses. Students from Sikkim bearing COI and applying through HRDD Quota will get 25% fee concession (20% of the seats reserved in each discipline).

Provision of Books:Necessary textbooks will be supplied to students on payment of the prescribed price of the books.

Transport FacilityTransport will be provided to commute to and fro the University from speci�ed points within Gangtok City on payment of applicable charges subject to suf�cient number of students opting for such facilities.Independent EnquiryThe University reserves all the rights to make independent enquiries about the authenticity of the claims made by an applicant with regard to admission, examination, and award of degree.

Anti – ragging PolicyRagging is a punishable offence. Honourable Supreme Court of India has held as follows, “If any incidents of ragging come to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel him from the institution.”
