Colombo from 24 to 26 August 2018. Since its inauguraon back in 2016, this event has had a posive impact on the country’s development as a vital business-to-business exhibion, bringing

together key decision-makers and buyers in the industry. LANKAENERGY 2018 aims to connue building on this success while helping to meet Sri Lanka’s increasing energy demands by introducing a

greater variety of products and services that will bolster Sri Lanka’s electricity sector and economy through the new and promising business partnerships and enterprises.

SRI LANKAKEY FACTS & FIGURESGDP Growth : Averaging 6% from 2013 to 2017Populaon : 21 millionGDP : $81 bilion ( 2016 )GDP per capita : $3,600 ( 2016 )GDP by Sector ( 2016 ) :• Services : 56.5%• Industry : 26.8%• Agriculture : 7.1%

Industrial production growth rate: 6.7% (2016)

Sri Lanka has achieved an increase in electricity generaon by 4 mes between 1992 and 2016. Electricity access has also increased from 50% in 1990 to 100% of the populaon by the end of 2016.

Electricity in Sri Lanka is currently generated through three primary sources: Thermal Power (which includes energy from biomass, coal, and all other fuel-oil sources), Hydro Power (including small hydro), and other non-convenonal renewable energy sources (Solar Power and Wind Power).

The Sri Lanka Government has iniated various projects to achieve energy self-sufficiency by 2030.

In addion, the Sri Lankan Government’s Energy Sector and Development Plan 2015-2025 expects to increase the share of electricity generaon from renewable energy sources from 50 percent in 2014 to 60 percent by 2020 and finally to meet the total demand from renewable and other indigenous energy resources by 2030.

The government connues to issue small hydro development permits to the private sector, for projects up to a total installed capacity of 10 MW per project.

By 2015, studies showed increased electricity consumpon by Sri Lanka’s industrial and commercial sectors compared to its domesc sector. This implies that commerce, services and industry are growing rapidly, driving overall GDP growth and is hence a favourable situaon for an economy with ambious GDP growth projecons, where the projected GDP growth rate in 2016/17 is 8 percent
