This spring SNPhA volunteered with the national Kidney foundation which was a great experience for all who attended. We also held a food and clothing collection for a St. Louis organization. The Valentines day candy-gram sale was successful. Thanks everyone that received or bought some for someone! Several SNPha members recently attended the regional conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed networking and meeting other pharmacy students.
Future events include elections, which are coming up on April 17th. Also, our yearly banquet will be held on April 20th, it is open to everyone to attend. Cost is $15 per person.

Rho Chi hosted a soup fundraiser on February 2nd and was able to donate half of the proceeds to the local soup kitchen. This semester, we have also managed to obtain a Rho Chi banner with our grant money through Kimmel. Members nominated and voted on the Rho Chi Faculty Achievement Award
this semester. Congratulations to Dr. Stacey Thacker for winning this award! Currently, we are planning on volunteering an afternoon in April at a local soup kitchen as well as preparing for the Rho Chi ceremony for the class of 2014.
SSHP hosted a credentialing board on February 2nd where several faculty members talked about their various board certifications. March was a busy month for our chapter starting off with legislative day on March 7th. SIUE was able to send 20 students to this event. The faculty auction was held on March 15th. Thank you to all of the students that participated and the faculty that donated! Additionally, the ICHP spring meeting was held in Bloom-ington, IL on March 23rd and 24th. SSHP hosted a speaker, Desi Kotis, a director at Northwestern hospital in Chicago, on March 27th. GenerationRx presentations were March 30th at Pontiac Junior High School where students educated 7th and 8th graders on prescription drug abuse. Elections will be held April 10th with many positions open. Good luck to all of the incoming executive members and to all students in their final few weeks of the semester!

This semester we held a speakers series, “Staying relevant: The future innovations of independent pharma-
cy.” On February 7th, McKesson had an ownership panel consisting of 2 local independent pharmacy own-
ers and 1 manager in a long term care pharmacy. They discussed their experiences of ownership and how
they started their pharmacies. On March 22nd, we had another session with Mike Bollinger from Cardinal
Health. He discussed the logistics of buying and selling an independent pharmacy. The last speaker for
the series, JoEllen Miller, will be coming on April 12th. Elections for executive offices will be held prior to
her presentation.
NCPA has taken charge of coordinating the school of pharmacy’s presence at the SIUe Employee Benefit
Fair on April 26th. We are working with ASCP, SSHP, and faculty to provide File of Life, Brown Bag
counseling sessions, osteoporosis screenings, and medication disposal for the employees of SIUe. We are
excited to provide these services and hope the event is a success.

ASCP
The ASCP Chapter recently received a Meridian Society Grant to co-develop a Hospice Volunteer Training Program. This will be a great opportunity to get involved in the community and help out a well deserving program. ASCP also sponsored a File of Life event at the Edwardsville Schnucks Pharmacy on March 16, 2012. The event was successful by performing 5 complete File of Life cards and providing 15 cards to other interested patients. ASCP would like to thank Dr. Teri Kerr and all those who volunteered to help! ASCP is having a spring clothing sale during the month of March to raise funds for future community projects. See Roxane Spann if you are interested in ordering a tote bag, hoodie, or V-neck pull over. Various colors are available and each will be embroidered with the SIUE School of Pharmacy logo. The deadline for ordering is March 23. Elections for ASCP will be held on April 3rd. We are looking for interested P1s and P2s to run for of-fice and take a leadership role in the future of ASCP. Mark your calendar for the ASCP Spring Barbeque which will be held April 24 during common hour. Expect the food to be delicious and the weather to be beautiful!

APhA
APhA has had a very busy spring semester. We kicked it off
with another very successful Diabetes Symposium. It was
held in the Morris University Center on campus and we
reached over 200 people in the community at this event.
We have also continued to inform the community about
medications and pharmacists with presentations present-
ed by the Medication Awareness Program.
ASP also got a great start on two brand new events to the
chapter. The first was a homeless health clinic in collabo-
ration with medical students in Springfield, IL This was
a great start to Project CHANCE and we hope to continue to
work with the medical students to include the pharmacy
students in the health clinic even more. In addition, Project
Heart hosted its first Ladies Night Out event in the Morris
University Center. We had a great turn out at the event
and many area businesses participated. We hope to
make this an annual event and get an even better turn
out next year!
Several members of ASP also had the opportunity to
travel to New Orleans, to the APhA Annual Meeting.
At this meeting our chapter received 1st runner up in
the AA division for chapter achievement! It was a great
honor to be recognized nationally as a successful chap-
ter and we would like to thank everyone who puts their
hard work into making ASP so successful each year.
Most recently, Operation OTC hosted an event at Buf-
falo Wild Wings. Those who attended saw Ryan Birk
dominate Dr. Jessica Kerr in the wing eating contest.
Everyone is looking forward to seeing her sport the
trendy pink hair and pink panther costume! Student
members, Chris Walters, Derek Smith, and Harry
Zollars in addition to Dr.Hecht also completed the
Blazing Challenge which was a spectacle for all in at-
tendance. Be on the lookout for information on our
upcoming trip to Six Flags! Mallory Klein
([email protected]) will be sending the details soon.
Elections were held at our last ASP meeting so we will be welcoming a new executive board for the next school year. We would like to thank all of the executive members this year who helped make it another success-ful year for ASP. Our next meeting will be held April 24th during common hour. Hope to see you all there!

Class of 2015
During the year of 2011-2012, the Class of 2015 has done many events and plan to do much more. Beginning of the 2011-2012, school year, a class fundraiser was conducted by selling t-shirts with the cute saying, “Drugs are my Life”. At the end of this fund- raiser, the class managed to raise over $1000. A great start for the new school year. In February 2012, the class crated a new fundraiser to the school called e-Pharmony. This was a survey that was filled out by students and their answers were compared with other stu-dents in the school. Based on these comparisons, they were best “matched” with the person that had the most matched answers. This went overall well for the first time making over $100. In the future, the class is planning on hav-ing another fundraiser night at Cold Stone Creamery. Cold Stone has been nice enough to donate part of their profits for a specific night. Another fund-raiser event that is in the making is a Mother’s/Father’s Day t-shirt. We are now designing a t-shirt that can be sold as a gift for parents during the Mother/Father Day season.
