Magic Circle

If you do not know how to do a magic circle, there are great video tutorials available for free online. You could alternately ch-4 and sl-st to form a ring

To Custom-Fit the Base: For a bottle with a base greater than 9.5cm (3.75”), work row 4 before continuing with the body. For any diameter less than 9.5cm, continue on to body.

Row 4: Ch-3, dc in next st, 2dc in next st. [dc in next 2 st, 2dc in next st] around. Sl-st to top ch of ch-3 to join. Do not fasten off. [48dc]

Square Mesh Water Bottle Holder This pattern is made to fit a water bottle that is 7cm in diameter x 21.5cm tall, not including the cap. (2.75” diameter x 8.5” tall) Instructions are given to customize the holder to your specifications.

Note: Do not turn at the end of rows.

Base

Note: For the base, count the first ch-3 as a dc in each row

Row1: Create a ‘magic circle.’ Ch-3, 11dc in ring. Tighten circle and sl-st to top ch of ch-3. [12 dc]

Row 2: Ch-3, dc in same st as joining. 2dc in each st around. Sl-st to top ch of ch-3 to join. [24dc]

Row 3: Ch-3, 2dc in next st. [dc in next st, 2dc in next st] around. Sl-st to top ch of ch-3 to join. [36dc]

Row 6: Ch-7. Skip 4 stitches, dc in next 2 dc. [Ch-4, skip 4 st, dc in next 2 dc] 5 times. Ch-4, skip 4 dc, dc in next dc. Sl-st to join to 3rd chain of beginning ch-7. [12 dc, 6 ch-4 spaces]

To Custom-Fit the Strap:

To Adjust Length of Strap: Create a series of chains that is 2.5cm (1”) less than the length of strap you’d like. Add 3 chains and follow instructions above. To Make a Thinner Strap: Reduce the amount of chains by 1 (i.e. Instead of 158 chains, chain 157). Begin by working 3hdc in 3rd chain from the hook. Follow the remaining strap pattern, replacing hdc for dc.

Finishing

Using the tapestry needle, weave in the ends from the body portion of the holder.

Using the 30cm (12”) tails on the straps, sew the ends of the strap on to opposite sides of the hdc band of the holder. Weave in ends.

Optional: Using a sewing needle and thread, attach buttons over ends of straps.
