This film traces the journey of Stephanie Nyombayire, a young Rwandan antigenocide activist who teams up with Sir Martin Gilbert, the renowned Holocaust historian, to travel across 15 countries and three continents interviewing survivors and descendants of the diplomats who rescued tens of thousands of Jews from the unspeakable horrors of the Nazi death camps. While Nyombayire embarks upon thisquest in an effort to uncover potential solutions for the ongoing genocide in Darfur and elsewhere, what emerges from their journey is more a testament to the ways in which the inherent good in the human spirit can trump institutional evil no matter what.

day camp

JCC Camp Daleville, located 15 minutes from Scranton, PA in rural Daleville, is operated by the JCC of Scranton. Our beautiful 100-acre site provides the perfect camp atmosphere. We offer programs for campers from preschool age through seventh grade and an exciting Counselor in Training (CIT) program. Our goal at JCC Camp Daleville is to give your child the best summer camp experience possible. We encourage them to learn inter-personal skills & achieve personal growth. We foster a sense of independence in your children, a stronger ego and a greater self-esteem. We enrich their lives by instilling positive values and building life skills in a fun, safe environment while creating lasting friendships and memories!

It is our policy to provide services to the entire community on a non-sectarian basis, while still offering an environment for our Jewish children to relate to, and identify with their heritage. Our mature and caring staff is highly trained and motivated to provide the most positive, impactful camping experience for your child. Even though we operate within a group context, we are always conscious of the individual needs of our campers. Our staff teaches our campers to become aware and sensitive to the needs of other campers.

The JCC has operated Camp Daleville for more than 40 years! We provide safe, supervised transportation from designated locations in Clarks Summit, Scranton and the Poconos. We have a strong network of alumni, many who are now parents sending their children to our camp. Become part of a wonderful tradition this year! Sunshine Connections (in collaboration with Northeast Regional Autism Center)“Sunshine Connections” is a comprehensive summer day camp program for children ages 3-13 who have been diagnosed with autism. This program will maximize your child’s opportunity for growth recreationally, socially and functionally. It allows your child to develop social skills and friendships with traditional campers, and become successful and welcome members of our camp community. Activities consist of therapeutic games, recreational activities, field trips/outings and more. The program’s various components include one on one (therapeutic staff to camper) guidance through specific activities, guided group activities with the other autistic campers, and interaction with the general camp population in order to build relationships and lifelong friendships. Each “Sunshine Connections” camper is assigned to a general “bunk” of traditional campers, with whom they would participate in activities at different times throughout the day. Therapeutic staff remain with the campers throughout the duration of the program. For rates & dates, please contact the JCC at 570-346-6595 ext. 100
