On April 23, 2015, The Boston Architectural College hosted its first-ever
gala, Spring into Design, at the Innovation and Design Building in the Seapor t
District. Spring into Design, the College’s new premier fundraising event,
was attended by over 250 guests and raised a record amount of nearly
$200,000 in suppor t of the BAC’s mission to offer an accessible design
education. The inaugural gala’s theme explored urban sustainability and
what it means for the community and the future of design practices.
In keeping with the gala’s celebration of sustainability, the event was
designed to create as little waste as possible. Potted plants and trees to
be later planted in the Public Garden, reusable custom wine glasses that
doubled as par ty favors, and recycling and compost stations were just a
few of the ways the BAC chose to innovate the traditional fundraising gala
concept. In place of a formal, sit-down dinner, guests were able to explore
over 25 local and sustainable food and beverage companies at tasting
stations throughout the venue.
Over 50 local companies and individuals sponsored the event, including
gold level sponsors Century Bank, Ar thur J. Hurley Company, Elkus Manfredi
Architects, John Moriar ty & Associates, and Turner Construction Company.
The event was co-chaired by BAC alumni David and Felice Silverman. P
