Dear Colleagues:

It gives us great pleasure to announce that this year’s Spring “Convention” will be held on May7-9, 2008, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Amelia Island, Florida. Entitled “Decision 2008:Reclaiming the Purpose and Integrity of the Arbitration Process,” the Convention will focuson a return to the traditional values and spirit of arbitration in a changing and sophisticated rein-surance environment.

As our Keynote Speaker on the first day of the Convention, we are honored to have AssociateJustice Samuel A. Alito discuss the arbitration process.

This unique Convention features three plenary tutorial sessions. The “Ethics in Arbitration” ses-sion is presented by ethics expert Professor Catherine Rogers. The “Insurance LinkedSecurities” panel is comprised of industry leaders who will describe the various capital marketsproducts and address the potential reinsurance arbitration issues that could arise from thesecontracts. David Geronemus, a renowned mediator, will lead a panel entitled “Use of Mediationas a Tool to Resolve Reinsurance Arbitration Disputes.” In addition, there will be two plenarymock arbitration sessions arising from one master topical fact pattern: one utilizes a “baseballarbitration” resolution approach, and the other will demonstrate the differences between UKand US reinsurance arbitration advocates and panels.

Before sessions begin on May 7th, there will be a Women’s Networking Lunch and Life andHealth Lunch.

In addition, on the morning of May 8, 2008, attendees will be able to select two "Caucus" work-shops from a list of five that will address the following topics:

• Life & Health Reinsurance Workshop• Technology in Managing a Reinsurance Dispute• Newer Arbitrator Program Mock Streamlined Proceeding• Commutation Disputes and Actuarial Panels• New Contract Clauses and Arbitration Procedures: the Future of Reinsurance Arbitration

This year, Jim Stinson will serve as Golf Chair. He is organizing the Tenth Annual ARIAS•U.S.Open Tournament to be held on Thursday afternoon, May 8, at The Golf Club of Amelia Island, which is adjacent to the hotel. The Fifth Annual ARIAS Tennis Tournament will be chaired againby Eric Kobrick. This event will also take place on Thursday afternoon at the resort. Golf andtennis details will be sent in a separate mailing and announced on the website calendar.

A program description and registration information follow. We hope you will join us at whatpromises to be a great convention. We look forward to seeing you in Florida.

This convention will be conducted in accordance with the ARIAS•U.S. Antitrust Policy, which isavailable in the About ARIAS section of the website at www.arias-us.org .

Complex reinsurance arbitrations require the parties and the panel to organizeand analyze significant amounts of information. That information must be syn-thesized and presented at the arbitration hearing in a coherent format.Similarly, in deliberations, the panel must be able to access this information toaid in its decision-making role. Transportation…(All attendees, please read.)

By air, Amelia Island can be reached by way of JacksonvilleInternational Airport (JAX). The taxi or car service ride is an easy30-minutes.

While taxis would normally be available at the airport, thePlayers Championship golf tournament is in Ponte Vedra Beach, near Jacksonvile, during our conference and is expected to drawup to 50,000 spectators. Taxis and car services will be stressedto handle the demand. To avoid having that event interfere withours, we have made advance arrangements with Dana’sLimousine Service to handle transporting our attendees inboth directions.

On the main travel days, based on the information youprovide, Dana’s will have cars, vans, or motor coachesmeeting the flights and taking you directly to the hotel for$40 each way…roughly 60% of the cost of individual taxis. Also, having the return trip scheduled will avoid the chaosof 350 people trying to find taxis at 12:30 Friday afternoon. For everyone’s convenience, charges will go to your hotel bill. There will be Dana’s representatives meeting arriving flights anddirecting you to your vehicle, but you must register one week in advance.

This special group airport fare is for Tuesday and Wednesday

arrivals and Friday departures only. For service on other days, youshould arrange your pick up sepa-rately by calling Dana’s at 800-456-5466 well in advance. Cars will be scarce, soa week ahead is advised. The cost for a single sedan in onedirection is $116.25, including taxes and gratuity. This fee will becharged to your credit card when you make the reservation.

On Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Dana’s will provideshuttle vans to go in and out of Fernandina Beach. You just sign avoucher; it will be billed to your room.

The form on the next page is for signing up for the specialgroup airport transportation. Fax the form as indicated. Theflights must be filled in, since that is the key information for plan-ning vehicle sizes. This reservation cannot be made on thephone, since the hotel charge requires a signature. For acloser look at the company, go to www.danaslimo.com .

Taxis and rental cars are available for traveling around thearea. Enterprise will deliver your car to the hotel. Taxis are calledfrom the Concierge desk and can require up to 15 minutes (ormore), if none is in the vicinity.
