Ⅲ. Admission Process

• Document evaluation (e.g. university entrance examination scores in home country, high school transcripts, etc.)

① There is no admissions limit for the number of international students. Applicants are chosen by

evaluating academic achievements, extracurricular activity, and willingness to develop. Admissions

decisions are based only on submitted documents.

② Applicants who obtained high scores on university entrance examinations taken in their home

countries (e.g., those with high academic achievement on the gaokao of China) will be given

priority consideration.

③ In the event of any inconsistencies in submitted documents, the university reserves the right to

deny an applicant, even if the student has already entered the university.

2. Regular university abroad- completed 2 full academic years or more with full-time enrollment at a university

abroad that conforms to a 4-year Korean university, having earned more than half of the credits required for graduation

- graduated or expected to graduate, 2ndor3rd year at the university (technical college) abroad

3. Recognized to have the academic background equivalent to a college graduate based on other achievements, and having earned 80 credits or more

Language proficiency

※ "Completion" means that a student has obtained a certain number of credits required for completion of each grade level specified by each university. Please check the completion status before the application process.

※ To be considered "International students whose parents are both non-Korean", applicants and parents must have obtained

foreign citizenship before applicants entered high school.

※ Students with Taiwanese citizenship who have one Korean parent and one non-Korean parent are regarded as students

with non-Korean parents until the year 2020.

※ In accordance with the Korean Nationality Act, Article 11.2 (The Legal Status of People with Dual Nationality), people with

dual citizenship are regarded as Korean citizens as of January 1, 2011. Therefore, people with dual citizenship are not

allowed to apply for international admission.

※ Students admitted through the international admissions process must acquire Level 4 or higher on the Test of Proficiency

in Korean (TOPIK) before graduation. This requirement may be waived by individual departments (with the exception of

Global Studies) for Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) students and students with scholarships from their government.

※ Transfer students may apply for majors not related to their previous major.

※ A maximum of 4 semesters will be recognized for transfer students having completed more than 4 semesters in their previous

universities (technical colleges).

※ Transfer students who expect to graduate from a technical college abroad must have completed at least 4 semesters of a 2-year

program, or at least 6 semesters of a 3-year program.

※ Anything not mentioned in the Spring 2019 Handbook of Special Admission is handled by the Student Admissions

Committee of Inha University for international students.

Students with visas expiring before Jan. 30 – Feb. 2, 2019:

- D-4 Visa holders (Korean language program students) can change their visa status to D-2 only after paying tuition, even if they have the certificate of admission from Inha University. ※ other visa holders are able to extend their visa after paying tuition.

- Students with visas expiring before the tuition payment period (Jan. 30 – Feb. 2, 2019) should either extend their language school studies until the end of January, or return to their home countries to apply for a D-2 Visa. Students whose visa expires before the tuition payment period must consult the Inha University International Center (☎ 032-860-7038).

- Students who will return to their country due to expiration of their visa should inform the International Center.

• If your visa will not expire soon, you must still apply for a visa after the tuition payment period with the documents above.

• The Inha University International Center will provide one-stop service to process visa applications in January and February, 2019 Please attend the

visa presentation for international students.

• Applicants must change their visa status and school information before the start of the semester or you will be fined.

• Students who changed their residence should report about their temporary place of residence before changing or applying for the visa.

• Students with other visas must change their visa to a D-2. Students who have F visas(i.e., F-1, F-2, F-3, F-4, F-5) or a C-3 Visa must contact the Inha University International Center (☎ 032-860-7036~8)

Ⅸ. Instructions 1. Guidance

☞ For international students who have completed elementary to high school abroad (not including applicants with non-Korean parents) application for 2018 is limited to 6 submissions.

☞ If applicants and their parents were not born in foreign countries, the “Certificate of Loss of Nationality of South Korea” must be submitted. (applicant and both parents must have obtained current non-Korean citizenship at least 2 years prior to the application).

☞ Inha University allow conditional admission for international students who have not yet taken the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK), completed Level 4 or higher of a Korean Language Program in a Korean university, or taken the an English Language Proficiency Test (IELTS or IBT). These students must submit a transcript (or certificate) 7 days before the entrance day. Admission will be canceled if a student fails to meet the language requirement.

☞ Students admitted through the international admissions process must acquire Level 4 or higher in TOPIK before graduation. (Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) students and students who receive scholarships from their government may be exempt dependent on each department office, with the exception of Global Studies).

☞ In accordance with the Apostille Agreement (2007.07.14), students who completed high school abroad must submit a high school graduation certificate and transcript along with the apostille certificate issued by the designated organization. Students from China and other countries that have not signed the Apostille Agreement must submit documents certified by the Korean Consulate.

☞ Since the detailed prospectus will not be sent to individual applicants, applicants are advised to have a good understanding of the prospectus. The university does not take responsibility for any issues as a result of a failure to thoroughly understand the prospectus. (personal information of Chinese students should be the same in the Household Register and the personal statement).

☞ Documents in languages other than English must have a notarized Korean translation attached to them with the certificate of the translator.
