This issue has been dedicated to Spring 2015 trends right in time for the perfect change of
weather as the temps begin to warm up. Spring is a huge season for the fashion world, it’s a season
where designers and retailers anticipate a high turnout from its consumers. Next to Fall, Spring is an
highly anticipated season in the fashion world.
After much continued success and a welcoming response from our last two issues; Resort 2015
Trends and our Valentine’s Day Gift & Looks Guide, we’re happy to say we’re all geared up for this
next big issue. The warmer, sunnier days are upon us and the Spring 2015 trends have a major impact
in the world of fashion because they set the tone for what we’ll be wearing during our Spring and
Summer months. At this point everyone is beyond ready to peel back the layers and get into
something a bit lighter and brighter.
In a world full of negativity and even wars in some places, it was refreshing to see how designers
could inspire hope for change through their expressions of peace and love on the runways. Spring
has always been symbolic of change, new life or a fresh start so why not try new ways to express
ourselves. Many trends trickled in from Resort such as tie-dyes, fringe, longer lengths, neutrals, sheer
hemlines and bold blooming florals. The Retro-Fab Seventies still dominated the Spring runway
shows ranging from hipster denim pieces, caftan shapes & tunics, dreamy leather for various seasons,
trapeze dresses and unlike the rest there was a utilitarian, camouflage trend. It’s going to be one
beautifully cool feast for our eyes and silhouettes this season!
As for the Menswear Spring runway shows, designers stuck to a cleaner color palette, such as a
strong presence of navys, brown undertones, black and white contrasting graphics and some of our
favorites, prints and denim on denim. It was exciting to see Womenswear trends such as prints and
denim transcend into the men’s category. It’s time for the gentlemen to be creative and playful with
their wardrobes. And as a take home, we have included some fun, and delightful Spring 2015 runway
inspired looks for both men and women to help you achieve your own very Spring 2015 looks.
Happy reading!
We thank you for your continued support.

Just when you thought you would have to retire all your leather pieces from Spring,
there’s been a change in plans. Leather came in many colors, great separates and it
wasn’t only limited to outerwear. On the runway it was seen in laser cut pieces, in
beautifully stitched panels, rich metallics, and bold reds had a big presence. Have some
fun and opt to use your leather pieces as great in between season staples.

Girl Talk!!

Ex mark the spot, or not?!
In the world of dating we all have experienced different
type of relationships, with some finding its’ way back to us. A
revolving door of past loves. To let them in or not is the question.
To what extent do we let them in, to what capacity, and what is the
purpose? They are in your past for a reason, right? There’s the
long term ex, the one that you have dated for a number of years;
there’s the short ex, the one you have dated for several months;
and there’s the casual ex, the one who was a “casual” friend.
Reasons we let them back in:
1. Familiarity
2. Curious of the potential
3. Hopeful
Besides these three reasons, we have to ask ourselves why
are we debating their presence in our lives again, and are these
valid reasons. The issue of dating, is one that is scary at times,
discouraging and even unknown and as a result it is easier to
fall back on someone that we have history with. The sense of
familiarity makes it easier, as well as comforting and we
sometimes overlook the reasons the relationship fizzled. When
debating with a long term love, is the grass greener on the
other side? In some cases it is, and in some cases it is not. The
reasons of your breakup is the determining factor here. Are
those reasons fixable over the course of time? For example,
has he recently advanced himself in his career, is he more
grounded and becoming that fatherly or husbandly figure that
you dreamt of? Is he meeting his own expectations of the man,
he envisioned himself to be, and the man you fell in love with?
On the contrary, are the reasons for your breakup due to trust,
fidelity, abuse or broken communication, then time and history
cannot fix these factors.
When debating with a short term love, curiosity takes over.
We start to wonder about what we could have been, and what
we can be now. When a relationship was short lived, there
aren’t as many battle wounds, we aren’t as emotionally
attached, and therefore it allows us to make a decision more
clearly because we aren’t as emotionally invested. Overall, it is
easier to revisit the conversation of letting them back into our
lives. Once again, case by case is priority. Meaning, not every
short term love is worthy of a second chance. Weigh the factors
of what caused your relationship to end. If these factors are
less damaging, such as relocation, age factors, bad timing or
your relationship goals are different, then these are reasons to
debate and possibly reconsider if ex marks the spot. However,
if the reasons are more damaging then it will be a much
tougher case in allowing them back in.
As for the casual love, hope and the possibility of growth
takes over. Since this relationship was casual, you can now
allow yourself to see if it can bloom into something more
fruitful. In this case it is sometimes good to keep an open mind
of the what- ifs or giving this person a fair shot at dating you.
You never know what could materialize and this could be your
fair shot at true love, so be an eternal optimist with this ex.
Whether ex marks the spot or not it all boils down to the
nature of your relationship with this person. It’s a case by case
basis when it comes to the revolving door of our ex’s.
Something else to take into consideration are your feelings,
memories with this person, the time you spent together, how
much in that time apart did you miss them and have you grown
an appreciation for them? There will always be that case of the
ex, it’s just a matter of whether you allow history to repeat
itself or not. Allow yourself time to figure out if it’s meant to
be and always exercise patience and reasoning when deciding.

NBA All-Star Fashion Show written by, Sarah Fuller
Jr Smith
The last time New York hosted the NBA All-
Star festivities was back in 1998. Those teams included
Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Kevin Garnett, Shaq and
more. A lot has changed since then. From each player
wearing their respective jerseys to the format. One thing
that has definitely changed is…The Fashion. Players of
today came to the world’s most famous arena, MSG
strutting their stuff. Coincidentally, another major event
was taking place in NYC, Mercedes Benz Fashion
Week. While in the city of Fashion the NBA decided
to take part by putting on their first ever All-Star
Fashion Show, produced by NBA superstar Lebron
James. J.R. Smith, Klay Thompson, DeMarcus
Cousins, and Chandler Parsons were among the players
to compete in this fashion show. Judged by NBA
legends Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley along with
designer John Elliot.
This was more than a show but an actual
competition. Players showcased their looks for a series
of rounds, the winner of each round would move on
resulting in the finals. After round one and the semi-
finals, it came down between the Houston Rockets
Chandler Parsons and the Cleveland Cavaliers J.R.
Smith. Parsons, who has modeling experience was
unable to withstand Smith’s fashion sense, as he was
crowned the winner of the NBA’s first ever fashion
show. What a great way to kick off All-Star weekend
which was filled with more off the court fashion. NBA
fashion will only continue to elevate, let’s see what the
rest of the season has in store.

OPENING CEREMONY
Prints are back on the
runways again for Spring
2015. This has been
trending for quite some
time and seems to be
staying for a while. We
have seen this trend
heavily focused on
women’s wear so it’s
nice to it translating into
the menswear category.
Be bold and try prints
for Spring 2015.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN OVADIA & SONS HOOD BY AIR
Black & White are always classic
combinations, and opposites tend to
attract. This Spring 2015 trend is bold
because of the strong contrast between
these two very powerful color ways.
Seamlessly incorporate both into one
look by choosing one dominate color
and the other as a secondary. It’s fun,
it’s bold and can be risky.

Navy had a very strong presence on the runways for Spring 2015. Stock up on your different navy
pieces and incorporate them into your wardrobe for the season. Mix it with colors like white, black,
navy on navy, grey and brown shades. It’s easy to do and shouldn’t be too difficult for even those
that consider themselves fashionably challenged.

Stripes & The Relaxed Suit
ALEXANDER MCQUEEN OVADIA & SONS
3.1 PHILLIP LIM OVADIA & SONS 3.1 PHILLIP LIM
Heavy focus on the runways for Menswear were
striped suits and stripes in general. If you haven’t
bought yourself a stripe suit now is the time to
do so because many designers have included this
trend in their Spring collections, which means
many options to choose from. Variety is key
especially when it comes to a trend as tricky and
sometimes not as flattering as stripes. To make
things easy go for a relaxed fit, with a casual tee
to make things less stringent. Spring is supposed
to be fun, and playful enjoy it!

Denim on denim was a solid trend
on the runways. Tom Ford below
shows us how to wear the look in so
many different ways, some even
followed a monochromatic scheme.
Denim has been on the scene for a
few seasons and it seems to be
staying around for just a little while
longer for Spring 15 menswear.
