how sweet it wasOn Valentine’s weekend, CLC held its
annual “We Love Cayucos” event. This
year it was an ice cream social and it
was a rousing success. Over 500 ice-
cream lovers attended, savoring sundaes
provided by Cayucos Candy Counterand coffee and cookies from Kelley’s
Espresso and Desserts. Kids loved the
Nick Brown, Dr. Nick the Balloonatic,
who captivated them with his original
creations and non-stop patter. They also
had a great time making their own spe-
cial Valentines in the crafts corner. Grown-ups visited with friends while enjoy-
ing the music of Bruce Beck, Jim Conroy and Danny Montana. Door prizes and
raffles rounded out the day.
Special thanks go to our wonderful donors of goods and time: Aaron Jackson
Wine, Backstage Pass & Wine Bar, Bayside Café, Bodywork, Brown ButterCookie Company, Café Della Via, Cayucos Cellars, Dale Kaiser Real Estate,
deLlamas Design & Graphics, Estero Bay Accounting, Martin’s Restaurant, Mark
Schoennauer, Sandi’s Massage, and Top Dog Coffee. Guests left with smiling
faces and happy taste buds. All in all, it couldn’t have been sweeter.
harmony headlands ambassador training
On Saturday April 14 from 10am-3pm at the Morro Bay Museum of Natural
History, a training session will be held for new Ambassadors. After meeting at
the Museum and listening to general docent information, as well as information
specific to Harmony Headlands, the new volunteers will go to Harmony
Headlands for a picnic lunch and walking orientation.
If you are interested in learning more about the environment, volunteering
time to benefit our friends and visitors, and having a good excuse to go out to
the beautiful Harmony Headlands, join us!
Ambassadors commit to walking at Harmony
Headlands just one morning or afternoon
per month, while serving as information
contacts for visitors and trained observers of
the condition of the park.
To make a reservation for the April
14 training, contact Mary Bettencourt at
805-235-4543, [email protected]; or Mimi
Kimball 805-995-5025, mimincayucos@

love it!

newleadership at clc After eight years, Greg Bettencourt has
stepped down as President of the CayucosLand Conservancy. Luckily for CLC, Greg
will continue on the Board and will have
primary responsibility for land use issues.
Greg was one of the founders of CLC
and during his presidency the organization
flourished. One of the goals he undertook
in the last two years was putting in place
a Board identification and development
program. As part of that program, he also
instituted a viable succession planning
process which will keep the organization
stable and effective in the coming years.
Greg’s contribution to CLC has been
tremendous and we are all grateful to him
for his hard work, dedication, and strong
leadership.
Heading CLC in 2012 will be Marie
Jaqua as CLC President, Joanne Riester as
Vice-President, and Candice Lusk as the
third member of the management team.
These three will work together as a team
sharing responsibilities and tasks as CLC
continues to focus on its goal of creating agreen belt around Cayucos. We are looking
forward to another productive and exciting
year.

new board member CLC is delighted to welcome Steve Foland as a new member of our Board of Directors.
Steve and his wife Sarah moved to Cayucos in 2005 and immediately became part
of the community. Steve brings his background as an attorney and his enthusiasm for
our objectives to our Board. His first task was to organize the Ice Cream Social event,
and those of you who attended know what a great job he and his committee did. We
feel both privileged and lucky to have Steve with us.
