how sweet it was On Valentine’s weekend, CLC held its annual “We Love Cayucos” event. This year it was an ice cream social and it was a rousing success. Over 500 ice- cream lovers attended, savoring sundaes provided by Cayucos Candy Counter and coffee and cookies from Kelley’s Espresso and Desserts. Kids loved the Nick Brown, Dr. Nick the Balloonatic, who captivated them with his original creations and non-stop patter. They also had a great time making their own spe- cial Valentines in the crafts corner. Grown-ups visited with friends while enjoy- ing the music of Bruce Beck, Jim Conroy and Danny Montana. Door prizes and raffles rounded out the day. Special thanks go to our wonderful donors of goods and time: Aaron Jackson Wine, Backstage Pass & Wine Bar, Bayside Café, Bodywork, Brown Butter Cookie Company, Café Della Via, Cayucos Cellars, Dale Kaiser Real Estate, deLlamas Design & Graphics, Estero Bay Accounting, Martin’s Restaurant, Mark Schoennauer, Sandi’s Massage, and Top Dog Coffee. Guests left with smiling faces and happy taste buds. All in all, it couldn’t have been sweeter. harmony headlands ambassador training  On Saturday April 14 from 10am-3pm at the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History, a training session will be held for new Ambassadors. After meeting at the Museum and listening to general docent information, as well as information specific to Harmony Headlands, the new volunteers will go to Harmony Headlands for a picnic lunch and walking orientation. If you are interested in learning more about the environment, volunteering time to benefit our friends and visitors, and having a good excuse to go out to the beautiful Harmony Headlands, join us! Luckily for CLC, Greg will continue on the Board and will have primary responsibility for land use issues. Greg was one of the founders of CLC and during his presidency the organization flourished. One of the goals he undertook in the last two years was putting in place a Board identification and development program. As part of that program, he also instituted a viable succession planning process which will keep the organization stable and effective in the coming years. Greg’s contribution to CLC has been tremendous and we are all grateful to him for his hard work, dedication, and strong leadership. Heading CLC in 2012 will be Marie Jaqua as CLC President, Joanne Riester as Vice-President, and Candice Lusk as the third member of the management team. These three will work together as a team sharing responsibilities and tasks as CLC continues to focus on its goal of creating a green belt around Cayucos. new board member CLC is delighted to welcome Steve Foland as a new member of our Board of Directors.

Steve and his wife Sarah moved to Cayucos in 2005 and immediately became part

of the community. Steve brings his background as an attorney and his enthusiasm for

our objectives to our Board. His first task was to organize the Ice Cream Social event,

and those of you who attended know what a great job he and his committee did. We

feel both privileged and lucky to have Steve with us.
