Welcome back ROCKSTARS!! Campus Rockstar was started in 2009 by two best friends on the campus of Morgan State University. Rockstar was started as an answer to the constant censoring of the student voice, and to be the opposite of the self promoting university newspapers and magazines. Now one friend short Campus Rockstar continues on that mission. So let’s have fun...No conversation is off limits, no topic is taboo. This is your forum to say all that you please... and get some writing experience as well. There are currently some spaces open on our production team..so send me an email and become apart of the movement!!!

With Love....

EXCLUSIVELY FOR THOSE IN THE KNOW

What is Campus Rockstar? We are a campus lifestyle magazine focusing on what is important

to the student. We are NOT dictated by administrative agendas.

Become a Rockstar and stay “exclusively in the know”!

Who are We?

We are two friends who thought outside of the box and refused to

color inside the lines. We were tired of being told no or what we

could not do. You will know us as Aili N. and Chloe J.

Listen to the exclusive Electrik Red Interview www.campus-rockstar.com

There damn sure ain’t nothing like a Morgan girl, being Morgan girls ourselves we have to agree. In what seems to be overnight GMB have become Campus Rockstars. Your girls Chloe and Aili caught up with them to do an interview. We’ve heard the whisperings on campus-Who is GMB- are the girls mentioned in the video real- and what’s up with the Morgan girl flyers?? They answered those questions and so much more!

Diary of a Real Leading Lady I am a real leading lady, no I will not be hiding behind an alias because what I say is the TRUTH. I was shocked and hurt by the article that was published that sought to tarnish the reputation that I by being a member of Leading Ladies helped to build. I waited for a week to see if a retraction would be printed or even an apology and when none came I felt it was time to take matters into my own hands. Leading Ladies is a Leadership Development and Growth SERIES! NOT ORGANIZATION! I wonder if this supposed Leading Lady even took the time to read the tote bag she was carrying around..such a poser. As for everyone else you are welcome to come check out what we are really all about in Leading Ladies, and you will see the excellent support that Ms. Toya Corbett has set up for us through extensive networking. If don’t know now ya know! Amber Kennedy-Morgan State University

Rockstar asked Alumni, what do you wish you knew before graduating???

Think of multiple

sources of income.

What are some

talents you have? Do

you have days off?

get a second job and

call loan providers

to see if you can

adjust payments, or

consolidate.

It can be a party still. As an

adult you have to make the

conscience effort to have

fun...explore your city,

attend free events, and just

plan to hang out ahead of

time.

In grad school you are

not only just given

information to digest,

you have to develop

your own knowledge.

Most of your time in

school is spent doing

research and drawing

conclusions....a

challenge but well

worth it.

“The cost of living and how my loans would affect it.”

“Grad school is more of a

challenge than undergrad.”

“Its not the party it seemed like it

would be”

Why Morgan State?? I always

wanted to attend a HBCU,

although Morgan wasn't my

first choice, I'm glad

that I came here. Are you

excited about graduation? I'm

more nervous than anything, I

have never attended my own

graduation ceremony, and don't really know

what to expect. I am also not having anxiety attacks like

so many graduating seniors because

I already received my diploma in

December. What's next for you? I

would love to work at a PR firm in

DC and buy a condo overlooking the

Potomac River, but unfortunately

that's not how life works. I am

currently looking for a job, but

have also gotten a part time

position working with a well known

tourism company, and plan travel

for extra income. What is one of

your favorite memories at

morgan? My favorite memories at

Morgan were the late nights that I

spent just relaxing with friends.

Laughing, watching TV, anything,

as long as we had fun. what is

going to be your legacy at

morgan? My legacy at Morgan will

be my relentless work for the

lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community at

Morgan. I have worked since my freshman year to bring

awareness and understanding of the LGBT community to

members of our HBCU family, and feel good to leave that

work in the hands of another very talented woman.

Why Morgan? I wanted to

attend an HBCU , where the

transition from home

(Cleveland) would be a smooth

one.

Are you excited about

graduation feeling optimistic

or pessimistic? I am

Optimistic and welcome the new opportunities that

graduation provides however, I would be lying if I didn't

acknowledge my anxiety about finding employment in this

economy. what's next for you? I am currently a candidate

for an awesome opportunity with the government, I do not

want to jinx it. I wont reveal more. However, When I find

out more I will make

it my business to let

you know.what is your

legacy at Morgan? My

legacy to Morgan State

University is my

writing. I have

written and edited a

number of projects

that have impacted the

university. I do not

think I am the best

writer but,

I do have a basis to

work from. what is one

of your best memories

of undergrad? There so

many to pick from however, My favorite memory would have to

be finding out I made it into the Morgan State University

Choir. That was an amazing experience that really exposed

me to a lot.

Lauren Kornegay “Leading Lady”

Major: Speech Communication

Why Morgan? I choose Morgan State University because it is in my blood.

This university was the first one that I

ever stepped foot on and two of my older

brothers attended Morgan State. I almost

made the mistake of attending a PWI, I

sure would've missed out on a lot. I

love Morgan State!

Are you excited about graduation?? I would say that the word "excited" is a

understatement on how I feel honestly. There isn't a word for me

to describe how excited I am for this day! However, graduating

from college is like a bittersweet feeling. I know that I have a

bright future ahead of me, but if I could relive my college

career over and over again, I definitely would. what's next for

you? What's next? Who knows!? I'm going wherever the wind takes me. I plan on starting a non- profit organization for

young children who've lost either one or

both parents. And hopefully

I'll be attending graduate

school next year for speech

pathology. But it's all in

God's hands. what is your

legacy at morgan? My legacy... I'm really not sure

to be honest. I know I've

affected many people in

different ways and that's

one thing I can say.

Whether through mentoring,

being a friend or even just

being a student. But I'm not

sure what would be the one thing that

people remember me by, you might have to ask

them. = D what is one of your best memories of

undergrad? I Love Morgan Day in April of 2009 was one of my best memories. That day changed my life forever. That day I began my

journey in Student Government Association, as Chief of Staff of

the Junior Class. That year I gained so much more than just

skills in SGA but I gained friends for a life time and knowledge

for myself to grow. And my how I've grown!

Lavell Allen “The CEO”

Major: Political Science

Why Morgan? Morgan State was my last choice. I was offered a

scholarship to Morgan in June

2006. I feel like it was the best

last minute decision I ever made.

Are you excited about

graduation?? I am very optimistic. I always expect the

best outcome once you achieve a high goal or milestone in your

life. Its only right that you expect the best.. what's next for

you? I am still working with my two business partners Duane Cheers and Cornelius Hairston on our company Movie Solution.

Movie Solution will soon be offered throughout the DC metro

train stations and we are working on Baltimore, NY, and Chicago.

Movie Solution is DVD Kiosk similar to Red Box but you have the

option to rent or buy Video games and DVDs. I am also in the

process of working to start and build my construction company. I

have always had a passion for commercial and residential real

estate. what is your legacy at Morgan? My legacy that I built at Morgan State had to be the Entertainment aspect. Working for

Def Jam and having meet and greets

with Major music artist like The

Dream, Rocko, Rick Ross,

Fabolous, Young Jeezy, Jeremih,

Lil Scrappy, Jadakiss, OJ Da

Juiceman, Electrick Red, Rakewon

from Wu Tang, and major events

like The BET BLACK COLLEGE TOUR

with special help from Morgan

State Student Activities Office.

I got tired people saying Howard

this Howard that, What about MSU.

So bringing 4 artist in one

semester meant a lot to the

popularity of Morgan State. My

legacy was to bring back the

Popularity of Morgan State

University. what is one of your

best memories of undergrad? My Best Memory had to be maintaining a 3.3 gpa my entire freshman year, and the Lil Wayne

concert for Homecoming lol...
