See it for the first time, or see it again. The memory of Cats will enchant you now and forever.

Broadway’s most popular musical returns and there’s never been a better time to experience Chicago, Broadway’s razzle-dazzle smash hit. A sensational tabloid tale of sin and corruption, Chicago has been lavished with praise and awards, including six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy and thousands of standing ovations.

LIBERTY CITYWRITTEN BY JESSICA BLANK AND APRIL YVETTE THOMPSONPERFORMED BY APRIL YVETTE THOMPSONDIRECTED BY JESSICA BLANK

FEBRUARY 18 – MARCH 1

Adrienne Arsht Center presents

April Yvette Thompson knows Miami’s Liberty City. It’s where urban and island cultures rub up against each other, and it’s where she grew up with her Bahamian/Cuban father and African-American mother. Now she brings to life that neighborhood as it was during her childhood—the turbulent 1970s and ‘80s, a time when families struggled to stay together as their worlds were coming apart.

Exploring race and activism, family, and politics, April tells us her life story with “scorching insight on how history both frees and chains us at the same time” (Variety).

Co-written and directed by Jessica Blank, co-writer of the hit play The Exonerated, Liberty City sheds light on a dramatic chapter of our history. Laugh-out-loud funny, yet as gritty and thought-provoking as the neighborhood that inspired it, Liberty City is a “definitive example of the solo show” (Village Voice).

BABALU-CYTHE ART OF DESI ARNAZMARCH 13 – APRIL 19 Winner of New York’s cabaret Bistro Award for Best Show!

Babalu-cy has wowed audiences and critics alike with its loving, musically thrilling tribute to Desi and Lucy, everybody’s favorite Cuban-American alliance. The “powerful and touching” (New York Times) Greg Purnhagen and his seven-piece band lead us through Desi’s tremendous popularity as a singer/bandleader.

But the heart of the show is Desi’s relationship, on screen and off, with America’s favorite red head, Loooocy! It’s a love affair we all share. And now it lives again in Miami, featuring 20 hot musical numbers, including: “Babalu,” “Cuban Pete,” “We’re Having a Baby,” and, of course, “I Love Lucy.”

Brilliantly theatrical with its colorful costumes, this Carmen is a passionate retelling of one of the world’s most tempestuous tales of love and seduction, betrayal and revenge. Featuring music from Bizet’s gorgeous opera and the popular zarzuela El gato Montes.

Her albums are big hits, and it is actually her strong, luscious voice you hear when Penélope Cruz sings in Pedro Almodóvar’s Volver. The singer from Granada often performs songs from outside the traditional flamenco repertory but all of them always with that riveting, unmistakable Andalusian spirit.
