I founded Tigertail in 1980 in Miami, observing a lack of new work in music, performance and dance. At that time many artists from the leading edge were not being experienced here. Tigertail began with composer Pauline Oliveros and a five-concert series “Composers in Performance”. Vodka was free and orange juice $1. “Side by Side”, temporary installations by Miami artists accompanied the series. A spirit of adventure and risk quickly invaded Tigertail and remains today at our core.
Watch Facebook for 52 weeks of small stories from our 35-year history beginning November 1.

“Leaving one of Mr. O’Neal’s shows, you’ll feel both exhausted and unburdened.” - The New York Times
Johnny O’Neal is an American Neo-bop jazz pianist and vocalist with a million dollar touch. His playing ranges from technically virtuosic stride to tender ballad interpretations. O’Neal portrayed Art Tatum in the 2004 movie Ray.

Audiences and critics raved about this piece when it premiered last June. Bare Bones, a raw powerful work opens up a world of human disconnection and unfiltered truths, tangled-up stories of two bodies that leave traceable marks made of bones, flesh, torture, and memories. The illustrious collaborators of Bare Bones include; dancer/choreographers Carlota Pradera and Lazaro Godoy, visual artist and filmmaker Juan Carlos Zaldivar, composer/sound artist Juraj Kojs, co-composer/musician Rainer Davies and lighting designer Alexey Taran.

Tigertail’s FLA-FRA (Florida-France Festival) takes off on the first of April and runs for the entire month. A community-wide fête of concerts, films and pop-up events including Culture Clicks, In Search for Sunrise: France, and new FLA-FRA projects. FLA-FRA embraces the French spirit of joie de vivre. This is the 2nd year of Tigertail’s venture into new work from France and beyond. Watch for more information as April 2015 nears.
Marc Savoy (accordion, vocals), wife Ann (guitar, frequent lead vocals), and Michael Doucet from BeauSoleil (fiddle, vocals) are today’s old-world masters. And so tradition is safe in these preservationist hands, with as pure an all-acoustic, all-Cajun French vision of Acadian music as you’ll find in the 21st century.

Born in Côte d’Ivoire, Nadia was a member of the groundbreaking, all female dance ensemble, Compagnie TchéTché.
