Last week Vacation Bible School was a great success. Over 300 chil-dren and workers gathered in our building everyday to learn and teach about Jesus and to study the Bible. Sarah Teichler did a fantastic job organizing this complicated event. This was Sarah’s first year to lead VBS at Ash Creek and it is hard to see how she could have done any better.

But Sarah was not the only person at work! She could not have done it without enormous help and leader-ship from so many other people. There were teachers, registration helpers, recreation leaders, music leaders, crafts teachers, and refresh-ment servers. Our custodian, Steve Cochran, was kept especially busy! I suspect there are others who helped I do not even know about. Thank you to everyone who worked together to tell the children of Azle about Jesus.

This week Aric Davis has a group of youth on a mission trip. They have gone to Rockport, Texas to help clean up the remains of last year’s hurricane. They left early Sunday morning and will be back later in the week. Please pray for this group.

Next week is Fine Arts Camp. My understanding is we have reached our limit of registration. 100 chil-dren are already registered! We had to limit the number of participants because of transportation issues. However, if you have a child not registered you can place them on the waiting list in case some already registered fail to attend.

There is room to sign up for the new Family Ministry Team. We believe we can start a new and important ministry in our church, but we need a few more people to be a part of this team. You can call the church office or sign up in one of the foyers on Sundays.

I am excited about the important ministries and opportunities for the future of our church.

SCHOOL DESKS FOR HAITI

One of the projects for the Haiti Mission Team will be building school desks for the children. Right now the school has no desks. You can help by donating money for the project or you can “purchase” a desk for $145. Each desk will seat 3 children. Put your donation in an envelope and label “Desks.” Checks should be made out to Ash Creek with “Desks” written in the memo blank. Thank you for your help with this ministry!
