2 One AnotherFrom the internationally acclaimed Sydney Dance Company comes an exuberant, high-octane fusion of dance, language, sound and light from Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela. With their award-winning work, 2 One Another, Sydney Dance Company weaves a vivid, exultant and sensual study of human interaction – charting the myriad actions and reactions, gestures and relationships, connections and disconnections that make up a life. Set against a pulsing, pixelated backdrop, the piece thrums with a driving, baroque-meets-electronica soundtrack, penned by the able hand of composer Nick Wales. Shot through with the exquisite poetry fragments of Samuel Webster, this is dance at its most engaging and multi-dimensional. Presented by Rockhampton Regional Council. Puccini ’s La bohèmePerformed by Opera Queensland, this most romantic opera of all time, La bohème appeals to devotees and newcomers alike. Mimì’s love affair with the poet Rodolfo begins on a snowy Christmas Eve in Paris on the cusp of 1914, a year that changes the world forever. Award winning theatre director and former Rockhampton resident Craig Ilott and designer Penny Challen have chosen that last optimistic winter – exactly one hundred years ago - as an electric moment to set Puccini’s beloved story of bohemian life. This intimate and revealing new production stars some of Queensland’s most exciting young singers as a group of rent-dodging flatmates living and loving precariously on the edge of society.

Sung in Italian with projected English translations. Featuring a chorus of local performers. Presented by Rockhampton Regional Council and Opera Queensland.

Looking Through A Glass OnionStarring John Waters with Stewart D’ Arrietta. Looking Through a Glass Onion is a homage to the music, mystery and memory of John Lennon. Looking Through a Glass Onion is not a cut-and-paste biography of Lennon or an emulation of the original recordings. On stage, Waters becomes synonymous with Lennon. He shies away from imitating the artist, but so emotive is his performance, it lulls the audience into believing anything is possible. It’s part concert and part biography, though it doesn’t seek to tell the full story of Lennon’s life. With 31 songs performed including to name a few, ‘A Day in the Life’, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’, ‘Revolution’, ‘Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds’, ‘Woman’, ‘Jealous Guy’, ‘Imagine’ and more, this is a show for all ages.

Wombat StewThe simple story of a dingo who catches a wombat and decides to make wombat stew, has been cleverly developed by Garry Ginivan Attractions (creators of Possum Magic The Musical) into a “true-blue-dinky-di-big-aussie-musical” - complete with blobs of mud, very fine feathers, creepy crawlies, flies, gum-nuts and a big bubbling billy can! With a cast of 6 multi-talented performers, Wombat Stew is a “mouth-watering” combination of story-telling, mime, music, dance and puppetry, which is bound to be the highlight of children’s theatre for 2014 and well into the future. Elv is to the maxHe was one of the most important figures of the 20th century pop culture. A cultural icon, widely known by the single name Elvis, who is often referred to as the ‘King of Rock and Roll’ or simply ‘The King’. There are lots of Elvis impersonators around, but Max Pellicano is considered as the best.
