Australians love our sports.

We love the thrill of the competition, the warm glow of fellowship, the joys that come with being on the team and getting the heart pumping.

But not everyone gets a fair go in Australian sports today. Many people still struggle to find their place on the team. As a result, everybody loses.

Sport is a major trigger for promoting social inclusion and social cohesion. For the individual, sport helps develop valuable life skills – leadership, co-operation, discipline, respect and tolerance - as well as a sense of belonging, shared experiences and lifelong friendships. For our society, it provides some of the glue that binds us, pulling us together and reaching out to groups facing exclusion or discrimination.

It’s important, and we’ve got to get it right.

This conference will lay out the facts, and help us discover the solutions to creating more inclusive, more successful modern community sports clubs.

Key takeaways:• Learn the latest methods in recruitment and retention of players and volunteers

• Get tips on how to make your club more welcoming to women, people with disabilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and Indigenous Australians

• Learn how to broker partnerships and linkages that will help take your club from ordinary to extraordinary

• Learn the latest and greatest methods for marketing of your club

• Get the hottest tips on how to get more grants and more fundraising dollars through the door

Why should I attend? The 2012 Sports Without Borders Conference will bring together sportspeople, sports club officials and volunteers, as well as government (including local government) workers, peak bodies and sports administrators to learn the facts, hear the stories, and learn about best practice sports solutions.

If you work in, work for, play, administer, umpire, coach, or care about sports and communities, this conference is the Grand Final. Book early and get a seat behind the goalposts.
