SPORTS UNIFORM 2020

At St Philip’s Christian College, we have a long history of a proud sporting culture across all of our SPCC schools. Our Sports Uniform is worn with pride by our students within the schools, among the local community, and as they represent the College on regional, state, national and international stages in their sporting endeavours. With the expansion of our sporting offerings over recent years, it became apparent that it was time for a review into the St Philip’s Christian College sports apparel. As we looked to the celebration of our 40th year in 2022, a conversation began around the creation of a Sports Uniform that would take us into our next season as a College; a uniform that will uphold the proud name of St Philip’s Christian College as well as being apparel which would provide quality in design and fabric and would carry us through for many years to come. We noted that our current uniform was not providing the warmth in the winter months, was not providing a satisfactory fit for some students and the fabric of our polos was not wearing well. A process of research and discussion with staff and students, along with industry experts from our new, world-class supplier, OnTrack, commenced.

I’m pleased to confirm that this has resulted in what we believe is an exciting and fresh new sports uniform which fulfils our brief and will carry us into a new season of sport at St Philip’s Christian College. The new Sports Uniform aims to be comfortable, practical and wearable, and the shirts and shorts will be available in both male and female fits. There have been many changes to fabric technology in the past 20+ years, and industry tests and measurements have been taken to benchmark key areas of pilling, colourfastness, longevity, shrinkage, and UV rating.

Over the coming months, you will see the new Sports Uniform items become available for purchase in our Uniform Shops, and as the various items arrive, you will be informed. To make the process as smooth as possible and financially affordable there will be a 2-year roll-out process as we move from the current sports uniform to the new one. We envision that by the commencement of the 2022 school year, our 40th year, all students will have transitioned into our new Sports Uniform. We are excited about this transition into a fresh, vibrant Sports Uniform for our College as we continue to look to the future in all that we do.

Key partners - ManufacturingFour key supply chain partnerships have been established over a long period of time. The strategic focus being to align the manufacturing model with specific garment specialists and to work closely with them utilising their core strength fabric and disciplines.

Factory A - WovensSpecialises in woven and bonded fabrics that are used in the manufacture

of key items, which include garments such as jackets, pants and shorts.

Factory B - KnitsSpecialises in knitted fabrics that cover high volume areas of polo shirts and rugby jumpers. They have the capacity to carry a variety of ‘Knit Fabrics’ to cover the areas required within the polo and rugby categories.

Factory C - PrintsSublimation print specialists, covering the detailed area of ”Game Day” performance wear. This area is complex and a very different area of manufacturing compared to the cut and sew side of the business involving knits and woven.

Factory D - Dual Manufacturing FacilityAustralian made production is still a highly valued key component of our business model. Being able to complete the small run/quick response requirement of our clients is critical to the successful partnerships we have established. Our ability to respond to the sometimes urgent or specialist needs of clients that arise from time to time is a huge asset.

Our primary philosophy is to build long term supply arrangements with our joint venture partners in manufacturing, under the direction of specialist makers within their disciplines of garment and fabric construction. Our range of supply chain is sourced from:

Zhongshan, China Bangkok, Thailand Jakarta, IndonesiaWatalla, Sri Lanka Melbourne, Australia

ONTRACK SPORTSWEAR - SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Social ResponsibilityOnTrack Sportswear believes in conducting business around the world to the highest standard of ethical business behaviour. We strive to be a responsible, socially sensitive and superior employer.

We support the idea of a common, international set of standards. We prefer the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) program. This is a worldwide program that audits our suppliers to make sure they meet global standards including fair wages, health and safety and minimum working age.

OnTrack “Connect”As part of the Master Plan Project Management Model, we commit to working closely with your school to design and develop the full range of sports uniform required.

Once the creative look has been established, we consult with the college uniform management on who is the best-fit supplier for specialist garments within niche sports eg: swimwear, rowing, water polo, sailing, equestrian and triathlon, as well as key accessories such as bags, caps, water bottles, towels, etc. Once the best-fit manufacturer has been selected, we handover the details required for the item to be produced to the college’s needs. From this point the college and the selected manufacturer then move to a standard buyer/supplier arrangement.

You may already be working with some of our current “Connect” suppliers. If the college already has a current supplier for an item, and this is the preferred supplier moving forward, then we work closely with them to establish the new creative look and feel.

We view this “Connect” stage as vital to the successful roll out of a co-ordinated, consistent, “one look” for your school. It ensures the integrity of the design package which has been created.

Wearability & RobustnessA strong consideration at the initial research & development stage of sourcing is “is it school tough” balanced with “is it wearable” vs “wearability”?

All sets of industry tests and measurements are undertaken in the early stages to benchmark key areas of pilling, colourfastness, durability, shrinkage and UV rating and other tests as required.

The best benchmarking occurs via the success rate of the product in the marketplace with 1,000 students covering both genders, all year levels ELC to Year 12, in all climates and states/Territories of Australia, having considered and understanding that a community of your school size will have the full cross section of people’s individual thoughts, needs and behaviours towards clothing with a wide range of opinions.

We are very confident of our ability to bring to your school the right fabrics that are “fit for purpose” and covers the student’s needs, parent’s wants and the sports requirements at a price-point with longevity of product. This is highly successful throughout our existing client base.

OnTrack Sportswear is here to help schools, associations and teams look great, unite through sport and take pride in their performance.
