This marked the fourth consecu- tive game, and second within six days that the strong Panthers held the opposition scoreless. To date no one has been able to run well against the rugged Babylon front wall, as all three TD's scored by Port Jefferson in Baby- lon ' s opening day loss came as the result of pass completions. The Panthers jump ed into an early lead - in the first period when Quarterback Bert Strand- berg found Scott Horsley open , hitting him for two TD's onpasses of 26 and 25 yards. Again in the second period it was the same combination , this time for 27 yards. Two long runs in the third period added to the Panther lead. Dave Kravis scampered 85 yards with a punt return for one score. When Islip put together their only scoring threat of the day, driving to the Babylon 17 , only tofumhle , Strandberg picked up the loose ball and carried it 76 yards to the end zone. C oach Bob Cox was able to substitute freely on offense throughout the second half , using his first string defense to pre- serve the shutout. Next week' s opponent will be Kings Park in a 2:00 P. M . start at Kings Park. Panther Runners 2nd C oach Warren Li ght ' s C ros s . C ountry team came close to up- setting Sayville for the League ¦¦ Four championship last week at Sunken Meadow State Park . The Sayville margin of victory was only three points 36-39, as the two teams dominated the championships. Sayville ' s Bob Peiser , the county ' s best, took f irst place in 13:14, with Frank Sammartino in second . Jim Cochrane in fourth place and Paul Warren , sixth, also earned medals for the Pan- ther team. Hayward Wins Sail Fleet 114 held their opening Frostbite regatta on Sunday at the Long Island Yacht Club. The first day honors were won by Charles Hayward, followed by Bill Holmes and John Tittering- ton. Bill Blackman of the Cen- terport fleet took fourth place , and Bob Annino finished fifth in a field of nine boats. - The UYC will be the scene of the second meeting in the fall series this Sunday at 2:00 PM . Both teams were undefeated until St. John ' s harriers came through to win with a score of 15 to 47. Tom Mc Gahern , Bob Westiby, Bob Venturini , Tom Kelley and John Koch came acros s the line together with a time of 13:09, to give St, John ' s firstplace; an un- defeated season and the trophy. In the same meet,, the Junior Varsity of St. John ' s shut-out Holy Trinity 15-50. Led by Pete Ruppert of Babylon, the Cougar s J . V . also remains undefeated and won a secon d trophy. The Freshman team was not so fortunate. They lost to Holy Tri- nity by a score of 27 to 28. WB Conference On Fridaiy night , October 25, the undefeated Lions beat the Hurricanes 32-0. Lome Zihgone returned a punt 25 yards to score the first touchdown and scored the second on an end run for 30 yds. to make the score 14 to 0. Kevin Lewis scored on a 6-yd end run, Steve Angelein scored on a 35 yard punt return and Steve Whittaker scored on a 15 yard end around in the second period to make the score at half- time 32 to 0. The Lions substi- tuted heavily in the 3rd and 4th periods to make it a more even game. Bob Dooley, Don Boh- linger and Frank Mahlau played outstantdin ball for the Hurri- canes. On Saturday afternoon in one of the most thrilling games in the Midget Division, the much im- proved Stallions, handed the Mo- hawks their first loss of the sea- son 25 to 20. Bob Palma from the Mohawks scored first and the score was 7 to 0. Joe Abruzzo brought the Stallions back as he scored three in a row to make the score 19 to 7 at halftime. Brett Klein scored first in the third period to make the score 25 to 7, Stallions. Jim Burden and Bruce Taylor scored on end arounds in the third and fourth periods for the Mohawks to make the score 25 to 20. The Stallion defense led by Mark Reznick and Bob Kerzner rose up and stopped the Mohawk offense. P.J. For- cino and Charlie Buser gained a lot of ground for the Stallion s on offense. On Sunday afternoon in the Midget division , behind the ex- cellent running of the fine run- ning halfback, Barry Davis, the Raiders defeated the Vikings , 33 to 20. David Grossman and Jim Capasano scored the other touchdowns for the Raid- ers and through the efforts of John Seery and Randy Miller on defense , the Raiders won the game. Outstanding for the Vik- ings were George Raimondi , Rori Wade, Mark Harris and David Firth. , * i In the pony division ^ the Aces trounced the Hawks 50 to 0* Ken Kling scored 3 touchdowns, Joe Russo 2, and George Paturalski , Joe Seery, and Tony Vascusoone apiece for the Aces. The extra points were made by Steven Booth . Ray Zalenka , Terry Nil- sen and George Sable were out- standing for the Aces on defense. Lions of Deer Park rolled up their sec- ond victory over the Long Island Bronco ' s 28-0. Sal Peretore and Kieth Factor led the pulverizing defense, each intercepting 2 passes. Factor carried one in- terception for a 50 yard T.D. when Frank Bochicchio and Ken Sharrote dropped the pursuing safety men. Quarterback Ron Smyth shot a bullet pass to Craig Delaney for the 2nd T. D. Jim O'Connor bulled the 3rd over from the 6 yard line. Richie Miller and Tom Riz za blasted through from the 30 and 40 respectively for 2 more T.D. ' s. . The 80 lb. Deer Park Bears beat^the Deer Park Knights of Columbia 14 to 7 with Bob Knice and Kevin Connelly carrying the payloads. Mike Mallon drilled a hole in the interior line twice for both E.P. ' s. The 105 lb. Deer Park Giants lost 18-0 to the Long Island Bronco ' s. In the Intramural games the Vikings rolled up a win 20-0 over the Saints. Joe Fiorentino ran 2 T. D . ' s from midfield and Bill King bored through the line for the 3rd T. D. The unbeaten Red Devils chalk- ed up another victory trouncing the Knights 20-0 with Frank La- Cort scoring twice , Brian Mc- Cabe once and ' Frank Edwards and Wayne Lewis bringing in an extra point each. Falcons Lose i t;. - . Deer Park ran into a Strong Bayshore team on Saturday, los- ing 20-0. The Falcons gave up a touchdown ih the first period, then held off Bayshore until the final period when the winners scored their final two touch- downs. West Islip Corsairs The West Islip Corsairs of the Suffolk Pop Warner football lea- gue fought off a determined Mas- sapeq. ua Bronco team for its first win of the season . Jim Sul- livan engineered a last period drive climaxed by an end sweep for the winning touchdown. The final score was 6-0, West Islip. St. John X-Country The Varsity Cross , Country Team of St. John the Baptist High School ran in. a meet at Van Courtlandt Park on Satur- day October 26. In the "B" race, 30 schools participated and St. John ' s took 3rd place. Tom McGehern of Lindenhurst was the leader for the Cougars with a time of 13:46 while Bob West- by, Bob Vanturini , Tom Kelley, Kevin Ziccardy, Jim Morriss and John Koch followed him up. St. John JV St. John ' s J.V. Football Team beat Holy Cross High School 16 to 2 in a well-played game on Saturday afternoon , October 26. Tom Foley of Sayville , the Cou- gar quarterback threw eleven passes; 9 of them completed for extra yardage. "Big Red's " de- fense was very tough throughout the game. The only Holy Cross score permitted was on a safe- ty. St. John ' s Freshman team was not as successful . They were defeated by Holy Cros s freshman by a tune of 22 to 0. Panthers Rout IslipBabylon retained their share

of the League Four lead by wal-loping Islip on Saturday, 33-0.This marked the fourth consecu-tive game, and second within sixdays that the strong Panthers heldthe opposition scoreless. Todate no one has been able to runwell against the rugged Babylonfront wall, as all three TD'sscored by Port Jefferson in Baby-lon's opening day loss came asthe result of pass completions.

The Panthers jumped into anearly lead - in the first periodwhen Quarterback Bert Strand-berg found Scott Horsley open,hitting him for two TD's onpassesof 26 and 25 yards. Again in thesecond period it was the samecombination, this time for 27yards.
