Panthers Rout IslipBabylon retained their share
of the League Four lead by wal-loping Islip on Saturday, 33-0.This marked the fourth consecu-tive game, and second within sixdays that the strong Panthers heldthe opposition scoreless. Todate no one has been able to runwell against the rugged Babylonfront wall, as all three TD'sscored by Port Jefferson in Baby-lon's opening day loss came asthe result of pass completions.
The Panthers jumped into anearly lead - in the first periodwhen Quarterback Bert Strand-berg found Scott Horsley open,hitting him for two TD's onpassesof 26 and 25 yards. Again in thesecond period it was the samecombination, this time for 27yards.
Two long runs in the thirdperiod added to the Panther lead.Dave Kravis scampered 85 yardswith a punt return for one score.When Islip put together their onlyscoring threat of the day, drivingto the Babylon 17, only tofumhle,Strandberg picked up the looseball and carried it 76 yards tothe end zone.
Coach Bob Cox was able tosubstitute freely on offensethroughout the second half, usinghis first string defense to pre-serve the shutout.
Next week's opponent will beKings Park in a 2:00 P.M. startat Kings Park.
Panther Runners 2ndCoach Warren Light's Cross
. Country team came close to up-setting Sayville for the League¦¦ Four championship last week atSunken Meadow State Park. TheSayville margin of victory wasonly three points 36-39, as thetwo teams dominated thechampionships.
Sayville's Bob Peiser, thecounty's best, took f irst place in13:14, with Frank Sammartino insecond. Jim Cochrane in fourthplace and Paul Warren, sixth,also earned medals for the Pan-ther team.
Hayward Wins SailFleet 114 held their opening
Frostbite regatta on Sunday atthe Long Island Yacht Club. Thefirst day honors were won byCharles Hayward, followed byBill Holmes and John Tittering-ton. Bill Blackman of the Cen-terport fleet took fourth place,and Bob Annino finished fifthin a field of nine boats. -
The UYC will be the sceneof the second meeting in the fallseries this Sunday at 2:00 PM.

lip to a 21-6 victory over NorthBabylon. The two teams playeda scoreless first half before RayForde romped for 32 yards anda West Islip touchdown in thethird Quarter.
However, Ryan then put thegame out of reach by runningtwo yards for a score and loft-ing an 11 yard TD pass to BillBolhert.

John the Baptist High School ranagainst Holy Trinity High Schoolin a Cross Country meet TuesdayOctober 22, at Salisbury Park.Both teams were undefeated untilSt. John's harriers came throughto win with a score of 15 to 47.Tom Mc Gahern, Bob Westiby,Bob Venturini, Tom Kelley andJohn Koch came across the linetogether with a time of 13:09, togive St, John's firstplace; an un-defeated season and the trophy.
In the same meet,, the JuniorVarsity of St. John's shut-outHoly Trinity 15-50. Led by PeteRuppert of Babylon, the CougarsJ.V. also remains undefeated andwon a second trophy.
The Freshman team was not sofortunate. They lost to Holy Tri-nity by a score of 27 to 28.
WB ConferenceOn Fridaiy night, October 25,
the undefeated Lions beat theHurricanes 32-0. Lome Zihgonereturned a punt 25 yards to scorethe first touchdown and scoredthe second on an end run for 30yds. to make the score 14 to 0.Kevin Lewis scored on a 6-ydend run, Steve Angelein scoredon a 35 yard punt return andSteve Whittaker scored on a 15yard end around in the secondperiod to make the score at half-time 32 to 0. The Lions substi-tuted heavily in the 3rd and 4thperiods to make it a more evengame. Bob Dooley, Don Boh-linger and Frank Mahlau playedoutstantdin ball for the Hurri-canes.
On Saturday afternoon in one ofthe most thrilling games in theMidget Division, the much im-proved Stallions, handed the Mo-hawks their first loss of the sea-son 25 to 20. Bob Palma from theMohawks scored first and thescore was 7 to 0. Joe Abruzzobrought the Stallions back as hescored three in a row to makethe score 19 to 7 at halftime.Brett Klein scored first in thethird period to make the score25 to 7, Stallions. Jim Burdenand Bruce Taylor scored on endarounds in the third and fourthperiods for the Mohawks to makethe score 25 to 20. The Stalliondefense led by Mark Reznick andBob Kerzner rose up and stoppedthe Mohawk offense. P.J. For-cino and Charlie Buser gaineda lot of ground for the Stallionson offense.
On Sunday afternoon in theMidget division, behind the ex-cellent running of the fine run-ning halfback, Barry Davis, theRaiders defeated the Vikings,33 to 20. David Grossmanand Jim Capasano scored theother touchdowns for the Raid-ers and through the efforts ofJohn Seery and Randy Milleron defense, the Raiders won thegame. In the pony division the Acestrounced the Hawks 50 to 0* KenKling scored 3 touchdowns, JoeRusso 2, and George Paturalski,Joe Seery, and Tony Vascusooneapiece for the Aces. The extrapoints were made by StevenBooth. Ray Zalenka, Terry Nil-sen and George Sable were out-standing for the Aces on defense.Ed Cronin, Tony Passalacq.ua,Dough Twohill and Bill Hopkinsplayed outstanding ball for theHawks.

ference, the 90 lb. Lions ofDeer Park rolled up their sec-ond victory over the Long IslandBronco's 28-0. Sal Peretore andKieth Factor led the pulverizingdefense, each intercepting 2passes. Factor carried one in-terception for a 50 yard T.D.when Frank Bochicchio and KenSharrote dropped the pursuingsafety men.
Quarterback Ron Smyth shot abullet pass to Craig Delaney forthe 2nd T.D. Jim O'Connorbulled the 3rd over from the6 yard line. Richie Miller andTom Rizza blasted through fromthe 30 and 40 respectively for 2more T.D.'s. .
The 80 lb. Deer Park Bearsbeat^the Deer Park Knights ofColumbia 14 to 7 with Bob Kniceand Kevin Connelly carrying thepayloads. Mike Mallon drilleda hole in the interior line twicefor both E.P.'s.
The 105 lb. Deer Park Giantslost 18-0 to the Long IslandBronco's.
In the Intramural games theVikings rolled up a win 20-0over the Saints. Joe Fiorentinoran 2 T.D.'s from midfield andBill King bored through the linefor the 3rd T.D.
The unbeaten Red Devils chalk-ed up another victory trouncingthe Knights 20-0 with Frank La-Cort scoring twice, Brian Mc-Cabe once and' Frank Edwardsand Wayne Lewis bringing in anextra point each.

Deer Park ran into a StrongBayshore team on Saturday, los-ing 20-0. The Falcons gave upa touchdown ih the first period,then held off Bayshore until thefinal period when the winnersscored their final two touch-downs.

Team of St. John the BaptistHigh School ran in. a meet atVan Courtlandt Park on Satur-day October 26. In the "B"race, 30 schools participated andSt. John's took 3rd place. TomMcGehern of Lindenhurst wasthe leader for the Cougars witha time of 13:46 while Bob West-by, Bob Vanturini, Tom Kelley,Kevin Ziccardy, Jim Morrissand John Koch followed him up.

beat Holy Cross High School16 to 2 in a well-played game onSaturday afternoon, October 26.Tom Foley of Sayville, the Cou-gar quarterback threw elevenpasses; 9 of them completed forextra yardage. "Big Red's" de-fense was very tough throughoutthe game. The only Holy Crossscore permitted was on a safe-ty.
St. John's Freshman team wasnot as successful . They weredefeated by Holy Cross freshmanby a tune of 22 to 0. Holy Crossdominated the game all the way.
