Their first match was against Star of the Sea. This turned out to be an extremely close match, with both teams providing opportunies to score through good passing and crosses. Star of the Sea snuck a goal in early in the first half, so our boys needed to aack to equalise. They had several chances that went close but were just unable to get the ball in the back of the net. They went down in a thrilling 1-0 match. Mountain Small Schools was their second opponent and our boys needed a strong win. They put together some great passing which made it hard for the defence to stop their aacking runs. Aſter scoring several goals in the first half, GPCC went on a goal rampage, bagging seven in total and winning comfortably. In the third game against Terrigal and their final pool match, GPCC started strongly. Defending well against these tough opponents, we provided several scoring chances that went wide. Terrigal were able to score an early goal and capitalised on this advantage, by geng two more into the net. Our boys, as they always do, connued to fight to the end to get back some goals, but unfortunately me ran out and they could not find the net. They went down 3-0 but sll gave 100%. Even though the score line did not go the way that we wanted, the character of our players said it all: they always fight to the end and never give up. Their ability to dig deep, find another gear and push themselves harder than ever, is something that so many students at our school possess which our Senior Primary Boys demonstrated. Congratulaons again to one of the finest Primary Boys Soccer teams that I have ever coached at the school. They conduct themselves on and off the field in a professional manner, displaying great sportsmanship against any side and always give everything they have on the field and leave nothing to queson.

MARINER’S CUPThe Senior Primary Boys played in their Mariner’s Cup qualifying rounds on Thursday 14 November and yet again, played exceptionally well against tough competition.

Their first match was against Star of the Sea. This turned out to be an extremely close match, with both teams providing opportunities to score through good passing and crosses. Star of the Sea snuck a goal in early in the first half, so our boys needed to attack to equalise. They had several chances that went close but were just unable to get the ball in the back of the net. They went down in a thrilling 1-0 match.

Mountain Small Schools was their second opponent and our boys needed a strong win. They put together some great passing which made it hard for the defence to stop their attacking runs. After scoring several goals in the first half, GPCC went on a goal rampage, bagging seven in total and winning comfortably.

In the third game against Terrigal and their final pool match, GPCC started strongly. Defending well against these tough opponents, we provided several scoring chances that went wide. Terrigal were able to score an early goal and capitalised on this advantage, by getting two more into the net. Our boys, as they always do, continued to fight to the end to get back some goals, but unfortunately time ran out and they could not find the net. They went down 3-0 but still gave 100%.

Even though the score line did not go the way that we wanted, the character of our players said it all: they always fight to the end and never give up. Their ability to dig deep, find another gear and push themselves harder than ever, is something that so many students at our school possess which our Senior Primary Boys demonstrated.

Congratulations again to one of the finest Primary Boys Soccer teams that I have ever coached at the school. They conduct themselves on and off the field in a professional manner, displaying great sportsmanship against any side and always give everything they have on the field and leave nothing to question.

4Sport NewsMARINER’S CUP GRAND FINALToday our Senior Primary Girls and Year 7/8 Boys Soccer teams are competing in the Grand Finals of the Mariner’s Cup. This will be a massive day for our teams, not just as they’re playing in a Grand Final, but also as they get to play this game at the Central Coast Stadium. It is going to be an experience to remember and one that they will cherish for a long time. Go GPCC.

NATIONAL CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIPSThis week and next, Raj S is representing NSW at the National Cricket Championships in Adelaide. This is a superb achievement by Raj to make it to such an elite level of cricket, playing the game that he loves, and we hope he has a wonderful experience representing his State.

LAKES GRAMMAR EQUESTRIAN Evie D is representing Green Point Christian College in the Interschool Equestrian Competition today at Morrisett. She has been performing exceptionally well in equestrian events this year and is looking forward to another challenge. We wish her all the best for this competition.

CSSA SENIOR PRIMARY BOYS/GIRLS BASKETBALLNext Monday, our Senior Boys and Girls Basketball Teams are competing in the CSSA Basketball Competition in Penrith. This is going to be a huge day for our teams and we hope they have a fantastic day.

PRIMARY PE LESSONSOur Years 3-6 Primary PE classes have been having a busy time over the last couple of weeks, playing Tennis - a new game that they have not played before in PE. We have recently purchased a number of new nets, racquets and balls which can be set up on the basketball court. In all, we have 12 courts set up so the students are playing tennis in pairs and they are having a great time.

The last fortnight has been learning the fundamental skills of tennis, focusing on ground strokes (forehand, backhand) and volleys, while playing in different game situations. For example, seeing which pair can have the longest rally of volleys if the ball is allowed to bounce once.

The next couple of weeks will be busy as we will start to look at serves and correct technique in each stroke, still in game situations.
