An Invitation to Sponsors

The Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies (ACUNS), the Arctic Institute of North America and the University of Calgary are pleased to host the 11th ACUNS Student Conference, 5-8 November 2015 at the University of Calgary. Due North: Next Generation Arctic Research and Leadership will be an interdisciplinary, international conference gathering together young scholars working on all topics related to a better understanding of the circumpolar north. Conference goals are to engage students involved in research, education and leadership in northern and arctic regions to create a forum for the sharing of research and ideas, and to promote leadership capacity and new partnerships. We are committed to provide top-scholar students the opportunity to attend this conference and we know that your organization supports these goals. Through your sponsorship we can facilitate the continued engagement in northern research that is vital to Canada’s future, ensure strong student involvement in the conference, and enable the transfer of student generated northern knowledge to a wide audience. ACUNS 2015 will empower early career scientists to rise to the challenge of addressing a changing north in a changing world. Be a part of ACUNS 2015 and help shape the future!

History of the ACUNS Student Conference The ACUNS Student Conference was established in 2003 in order to increase awareness of northern research in Canada and elsewhere and to provide the opportunity for emerging northern scholars to gather from around the world. It is a regular event with a thematic focus and it is largely organized by a committee of graduate students from the host institution. ACUNS 2015 is organized by students at the University of Calgary for students from around the world. The conference provides a unique opportunity for young researchers to meet and exchange ideas with others who share similar academic interests in the north, be they in science, social science or the humanities. Organizing the ACUNS Conference provides students with an invaluable opportunity to develop skills that will carry them through their academic careers, to forge links with government, private sector and community stakeholders, and make new national and international connections that ultimately lead to new partnerships for knowledge creation, both within academe and beyond.
